A real gem for Britcom lovers
I have only watched the first disk but I can already say I am so happy I bit the bullet to make this purchase as the complete series seem to be getting harder to find. The price was the lowest I've seen lately and free shipping from UK to US. No streaming service I have ever found ( and I have tried) offers the whole series (or even close). How great it will be to watch all the episodes, especially the earliest ones, that I will likely never get to see otherwise. Packaging was great and shipping time from "across the pond" quite reasonable. As a serious Anglophile and Britcom lover, this is a must-have addition to my collection. I have been watching on a PC DVD player that I set up for region 2 as my set top units are all region 1. This works but I think there would be a few advantages to having a region 2 set top unit.Read full review

Region 2 UK Version of Entire Series NOT so great
This dvd package is not so great. There is no index and some of the discs "glitch", so whole episodes are not watchable.
I have been slowly and steadily collecting the whole series - one DVD at a time - in Region 1 format. So far, each dvd package works well - no glitching.Read full review

High Quality, excellent value
I bought this Region 2 (Britain and Europe) DVD set for my wife for Christmas. We live in the US and I was not able to find the complete Last of the Summer Wine series DVD set in the Region 1 (US) format. These Region 2 DVD's cant't be played on a regular Region 1 (US) DVD player but we are able to play them on our TV through the DVD player in our PC. I set the DVD player in the PC to Region 2 and don't intend to change it since the player only allows 5 region changes before it is locked into the last region used. The DVD image and audio quality is better than I expected. The British accent is sometimes hard to understand but subtitles are available and can be turned on. Overall we are very pleased and would highly recommend this DVD set.Read full review

Having the entire series is great.
We've watched Summer Wine for years on MPT. They have stopped running it on MPT. We were very happy to find that we could get the entire series on DVDs. I appreciated that there was a warning that the discs would would not play on a region 1 DVD player - as I did not even realize that there were different formats of DVDs and DVD players. So I knew that I needed to have a player that could play these DVDs - and since this was a gift, I was able to give the DVDs and the player at the same time. It would not have been as much fun if I hadn't realized until I tried playing the DVDs that something wasn't right. So, THANK YOU for the heads-up! The videos, and sound are excellent quality. I had watched a few seasons of the series on freevee, but they did not have all seasons of the series, only about ten. My only complaint so far would be the cases the discs are in. The cases do not keep the disc in place securely, so be aware when opening the cases that they should be opened laying flat on a horizontal surface, or the discs are likely to go everywhere.
