It was brand new. This is one of our favorite movies. We originally had it on VHS, but decided to get it on DVD because my husband has a hearing loss and it was captioned for the hearing impaired.

Outstanding Movie for a modern western

This has always been one of my favorite movies since the first time I watched it. I have the VHS, but wanted it on DVD disk. I have watched this movie several times a month, because I just like it. I like the lead actor and actress and the story is really believable and keeps your attention.Read full review...

Last of the Dogmen

I bought this movie when it first came out on VHS.I loved it then and I still love watching it. Which one of us wouldn't want to find something like that????What an exciting way of life. Back to nature, no traffic, no crooked politics. Just a plain good ole honest way of living. I got the movie on DVD to cut down on the bulk of my movies. I'm slowly replacing all my movies to DVD's. I don't agree with ANY swearing, or profanity of any type,I feel it's not necessary to make a good movie, and there's very little of it in this movie. The plot is excellent, actors are excellent, and the scenery is extrodinary. The way the indians lived is pretty close to the way God intended life to be lived. Taking what you need to survive and putting back what you can, and being thankful for what you have.Read full review...

A Gem of a movie

This is one of those unique movies with a cast that's just so good it's addictive. Too bad it's not a widely available movie as this is a keeper. Loved back in the day and still do, in fact it was surprisingly good even having seen it some time ago. It uses a lot of NW Montana names for things but was filmed in Canada and has plenty of gorgeous scenery. I highly recommend it.Read full review...

I'd seen it years ago, and had the urge to revisit it.

It is a relatively old movie, and not a block buster, nor a grade A, but good. Enjoyed it. Worth my time. I'd forgotten quite a bit of it.

great, fantastic, excellent, well done...great plot line, fantastic scenery, excellent production, well done acting. A must see movie.

The movie is "limited supply" in DVD, so the cost will be higher than what most people would like to pay for a movie. However, the movie is EXCELLENT to watch. A must see movie.

Great to see old "friends," from "Dances With Wolves!"

Great movie, to watch time & again!
Tom Berenger is a bit chubby, in this one, but still quite a hottie!
Barbara Hershey is very good as his love interest.
Always great, to see some of the Native American actors who were in "Dances With Wolves" & "Son of the Morning Star." They truly need to be featured in more movies, perhaps in starring roles.
The storyline is very enchanting, & even the little dog was lovable!

you get what you pay for

This was an expensive DVD, but worth the price, thus I rated it at a good value. I love the story - had seen it many years ago and have always hoped to have a copy of my own. It is a very intriguing story! And if the price does not 'scare you away', you will be glad you invested in this movie!Read full review...

Last of the Dogmen

This movie was the first movie my husband and I watched together in 1996 we loved it so much because I'm of Native American Herritage ,It was also the first movie we bought(vhs )at the time.A year later we were married a we bought it on DVD when that came out . My Husband accidently left it in a player that broke due to a power surge he didn't know it was in there and at the time you buy the movie everywhere for less than $10.00 now of course when my husband said Honey we really need our movie I couldn't find it anywhere except e.bay and pay a small fortune, The first two I bought out of the UK and did not know about regions as far as movies go was a total loss and the sad thing about that was the price was cheap like here when it first came out .I'm now left with 2 of these movies that can't be watched or returned. I've lurned my lesson and will not buy from the uk unless it is region free or maybe something else I may be looking for . As far as the movie it is a must see ,It prompted me to start my collection of real hand made native american peacepipes, flutes bow & arrows Dreamcatchers ,and so forth my home is decorated native american I do need a cerimonial Drum and afew other pieces but time will tell . ,But as far as the movie Last of the dogmen it is absolutly wonderful and should never have been discontinued , I hope I don't have to pay as much again if needed but I know how people are they find out and see dollar signs, NOT ME ! I hope this review helped you and yours , but I did learn my lesson.. Thank You .
I'm affraid to look on ebay for my collection as far as Indian (authintic )Native american works from the things I mentioned to there wonderful Music (flutes and drums ) POW WOW
Thank You and good evening,

Last of the Dogmen

I have been looking for this movie for quite some time. When I did find it the prices were through the roof. The manufacturer has discontinued this title causing the price run up. Why they discontinued it is beyond me.

This is my favorite Tom Berenger film. If you want to find out about the film go to IMDB and look it up. My comments about the film are not intended to be negative. When I put the film in my Samsung Bluray player the color was great. The menu screen is full width and height but when you start the film the picture gets a 6" black border. I wasn't thrilled but the picture that you get is almost HD quality. Absolutely gorgeous scenery and even though the sound is only in stereo you don't really notice.

Hopefully the reason that this film has been discontinued is that they are re-tooling the film for 5.1 and HD because this is a film that should be seen in HD. The Oxbow region is absolutely breathtaking. I can't say enough about this film. Anyone that has an interest in Indian history and the West would like it.
