Thoroughly enjoyable fantasy romp.

Great fantasy adventure with a very young Tom Cruise and assorted elves, fairies, dwarves, goblins and an unforgettable satanic Tim Currie. The minor demons are both menacing and humorous. Unicorn is central to the entire plot and the underworld climax is not to be missed.

A nice family fantasy film, with a very young Tom Cruise, the effect look a bit dated but still an enjoyable film.

Plot Summary:

Jack (Tom Cruise) and his allies have a small quest to perform.

To defeat the Lord of Darkness before he creates ‘eternal night’ by killing the last unicorn.

There are two version of this film, one made specifically for the American market with the soundtrack produced by Tangerine Dream, the other version the soundtrack is by Jerry Goldsmith. There is a edition with both version of the films.Read full review...

Brilliant film worth watching tom cruse is a excellent actor and this is one of his good films.This DVD has good music in the unicorn section of the film and at the end of the film.

Breathtaking

This film is beautiful to look at - really amazing. It captures absolutely perfectly the slightly dark and disturbing nature of many classic fairy tales. Tim Curry is extraordinary in this film, grotesque but somehow seductive. The sets are magnificent and the horses used to portray the unicorns are brilliant. I decided to buy this dvd because its an old favourite of my mums and she had only taped it on a video so long ago, i thought id buy it for her as it was a good price aswell
