A taboo and shambolic relationship.

In itself, this is far from being a great work of cinematic art. The two main characters are a pain - but that's almost the point. Their dialogue and acting leave something to be desired yet, overall the film is effective in portraying a taboo and shambolic relationship. In English-language culture, think Tennessee Williams. Even so, why five stars? All right, perhaps erring on the generous side, but, be that as it be, this is a must-see film by an writer important because of the combination of how he did what he did when he did it.Read full review

A very Cocteau film, crowd scene / last supper (cameo) a touch of implied sexuality between siblings, dark but watchable. Given the films ageI t must have been ground breaking and possibly a bit shocking.Read full review
