Using this as my "receiver" for my Craftsman garage door opener.
Although it is a commercial product intended for gates, like many others, I am using this as my "receiver" for my Craftsman garage door opener. I connected this in parallel with the wall switch on the inner wall entering from the garage to the house. It does not come with a power source or interconnect wire, but the input power range is very easy to satisfy with a power module you probably already have around the house. You also need to have (Security +_2.0) Liftmaster garage door openers (or equivalent). My old Craftsman remotes are not compatible, but still work with the antenna of the door opener. My 850LM did not come with the antennae, but when I contacted the vendor, he immediately sent me a replacement unit that included it. Mounted on the inner wall as described above the range was TERRIBLE due to the metal garage door. I ran a 50 foot antennae cable beyond the font door and the range is now very impressive, several hundred feet in both directions. Although it was a "project", I am very satisfied with it, however, I did have to purchase new remote controls. One Original Liftmaster, and two different vendors compatibles. All remotes programmed very easily.Read full review...

Works great, easy to wire and program
Works great to control my old garage door opener. Programming was easy and wiring was straightforward. I did need to use a wall-wart power supply, 12v. Conveniently, I could re-use one from an old external hard drive, as it seems to be a standard size.Read full review...

Easy to install and works great.
We have an old Craftsman garage door opener. It works fine from the wall button but was very flakey from the remotes. I replaced the remote as the 1st step in figuring out the issue. No change. I assume its the radio receiver on the control board. Control boards for this model opener were either not available or very ($100+) expensive. This little device was a savior! I had several power bricks in the basement that would work - I had a 12V DC with the right connector that I tried first (worked great) but then I had a brick from an old (long-gone) Dustbuster that was 15V AC. I used the screw connectors and it worked and that's what I'm using. A short 2-wire connection from the channel 1 terminals to the terminals on the back of the opener where the wall button connects, and the problem was solved. It comes with the antenna and a couple of velcro strips to mount it. I opted to use a couple of screws to mount it on the crossbeam in my garage (didn't think velco would hold too well against paint). The wife is very happy now! Easy to install and works great. Easy to integrate
I have an old commercial opener with a multicode remote which required me to drive up to the garage door and push the button multiple times to get it to open due to the limited range. I left that receiver installed, and installed the Liftmaster receiver in parallel with my 3 button station on the wall. I can now open the door far enough awat so that it is open by the time I pull up. I also purchased 3 button remotes so that I can open, close, and stop the door.
Programming is simple. Push a button on the receiver, and a light blinks. Press a button the remote and that button is programmed.Read full review...

Swapped out old 535LM for this new 850LM. Only three wire connections. Remote works at 100' now.
Used this Liftmaster 850LM to replace LM 535 which was not receiving remote control signal. Disconnected old receiver which has open, common and power wire connections. Connected new receiver using the open and common connections and the alternate plug in power connection. Programmed remotes to the receiver and all worked as should. Did extend wiring from the opener to the front of the building for easier access to receiver and puts receiver on outside wall of building. Old receiver was installed on a rafter above the opener.Read full review...

Easy to program and excellent range
Easy to program, excellent range with included antenna. Installed in a condo. Here’s a tip- to remove individual remotes from memory, just reprogram them to an unused channel, then clear memory for that channel. The other channels remain untouched and the desired remote is removed.Read full review...
