Reliable old router and great value second hand

Reliable old router. It may be years old but picking one up for less than £20 second hand makes it worth it. Unfortunately it no longer keeps time and there is not updated firmware for it.

Unsupported waste of time.

Got My Cisco Linksys WAG160N and the ADSL will not connect.

So I waited till weekend when I have more time to look at it.
Seems that the A/VDSL Modem part is not working.
Will not detect DSL signal.
When se manually with ISP It still does not work.
ISP was helpful in sending all settings down.
Hard reset the modem to factory again and retry still no joy.
Then went to linksys site and product is not supported.

Good Router, Solid Perfomance - No DHCP reservation feature is a let-down.

WAG160N - Pretty good router, good ADSL speeds and solid wireless performance.
One slight issue - there is no option to set DHCP reserved Ip addresses - If you want assign static IP's you need to set them manually on the client machines. Bit of a pain, but otherwise this is a good router.Read full review...

Not truly wireless

You have to connect the router up with wires before you can get it to work wirelessly.
They do supply the wires with it and it's not to difficult.
It's definitely a cheap solution to a problem.

Excellent for gaming!!!

Pretty Simple!!!

Fast Wireless-N for the whole house

Built-in modem, router and 4 port LAN switch connection

Easy to set up and use. Latest security protection

Features:>
High-speed ADSL2+ Modem gives you a fast, "always on" connection to the Internet
Connect your PCs via the built-in router and 4-port switch to jump start your Ethernet network and share the Internet throughout the building
Built-in Wireless-N Access Point also lets you connect without running wires
MIMO technology uses multiple radios to create a robust signal that travels much farther with reduced dead spots

The Linksys Wireless-N ADSL2+ Gateway is the all-in-one solution for Internet connectivity. The ADSL2+ Modem function gives you a blazing fast connection to the Internet, far faster than a dial-up, and without tying up your phone line. The router function lets you share your high-speed Internet connection with all the PCs in the house.

Share files, printers, hard drive space, and other resources by connecting your computers to the gateway via the built-in 4-port 10/100 Ethernet Switch. Attach four wired PCs directly, or connect more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need.

Or, use the built-in Access Point to connect wireless devices to your network without running cables through the building. The Access Point built into the gateway uses the wireless networking technology - Wireless-N. By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area maintaining the wireless connection much farther than standard Wireless-G.Read full review...

Does everything you need at an excellent price.

Configuring the router is a doddle : a setup wizard guides you through the standard parameters, and an online configurator allows access to the advanced features.
Provides lightning fast internet access with an extremely high level of wireless security.
Very occasionally a wireless PC will not connect automatically and the router has to be reset manually to engender a connection. This may be a configuration issue and not a problem with the router.

Just what I needed - and a bargain price too!

I wanted a more powerful router firstly because my internet connection is affected by interference and secondly in order to get a stronger wireless signal within the house.
This one wins on both counts. I now have a stable connection (although speed is still low at times because of the interference) and better wireless reception throughout the house.
My only slight criticisms are:

1. The installation CD didn't work for me (I'm with TalkTalk). I had to enter router settings manually but that wasn't difficult.
2. Router stats aren't easy to see. I found on kitz.co.uk how to see SNR margin and attenuation. I'm still not seeing time up and errored seconds, which I was used to seeing on TalkTalk's D-Link, but I can live with that.
3. There's no on/off switch. To reboot I need to switch off at the socket.

These are minor points, however. I'm very happy with my "wagon"!
