Replacement receiver
When one of these devices supplied originally with my trackball failed, I shopped around on Ebay for a replacement. This one was purchased and it was easy to use. It was plugged in, Windows loaded its driver and recognised it, then the trackball was switched on and hey presto, it worked. Only works as a replacement
I bought this thinking I could use it as an extra dongle for my other devices and just use my keyboard between them without having to have just one that I needed to keep taking out and putting in the aforementions devices. But alas, this is not the case. So if you already have one don't bother buying a new one (unless you want it "just in case") because it's pointless owning more than one at a timeRead full review

Clever Clever
Reliable and simple to install.
Slightly more complex if you want to run more than one device through it - you need to download Logitech's Unifying Software onto your laptop for that.
You also need to use this software to "un-unify a device" should the need arise.
So a little bit clunky.
My last dongle stopped working and it took me a lot of effort to work out the fact. The unifying software should really tell me it was broken, but the software is really rather basic.

Does what it needs to but not as it was supposed to do
I bought this as the original was lost. Unfortunately, it did not work with my Logitech M185 mouse which was specifically listed as a compatible device.
Fortunately, it did work with another much older mouse (M238).
I can't say it was good value because it cost almost as much as a new mouse.
I can't say it was well designed because it's not that sort of product
