Ignition coil for a classic bike project

I needed two 6 volt ignition coils for my bike project, I found these to be just right for my application, and the price was right. Made by Lucas they should be reliable, only use will back this up.

Old fashioned but robust

These are old fashioned coils but are robust unless you crush/dent the outer alloy body which normally causes a short which is terminal. Other draw backs are their size and the need to keep them cool by placing them in airflow. As far as I know they are made in the far East as Lucas now just pop stuff in boxes in the UK
However the opposition solid state coils are much more variable in quality There are some real rubbish ones for sale. I'd only recommend dynacoil as being of consistent quality .Read full review...

A suitable replacement for my 1958 coil that was still working ok

Glad replacements are still available despite it being thinner but a good piece of rubber sheeting wrapped around the new coil and it fits fine
