any of the Mirro cookers with the jigglers are safer in my opinion than the types that don't relieve over pressure instantly. All styles are relatively safe though for canning into pint and quart canning jars, as long as you don't overfill the cooker, and are monitoring pressure and adjusting heat accordingly. But with this style; the jiggler removes excess pressure instantly by the jiggler weight. So if you hear the jijggle rattling frequently, you need to bump the heat down a bit, until you just hear it rattle just a few times a minute. It's easier to listen for that sound compared to continuously monitoring a gauge or rising button type of pressure monitor like some Presto canners use.Read full review

A pot I can never do without

I already had one of these pressure cookers (for years) but the seal was leaking and the bottom handle was somewhat broken. I could no longer use it as a pressure cooker, but it has been a terrific pot in which I could cook puddings without burning the bottom.
