Excellent alternative to a stock battery
This simple battery holder works as an alternative to the blocky 4.5v alkaline battery used in some Apple Macintosh models from 1994~1998.
What’s good:
- cheaper that the stock 4.5v replacement battery
- uses 3 AAA batteries which can be easily replaced once discharged
- simple installation
- includes an On/Off switch if you want to leave it installed inside the computer case but don’t want it discharged by the logic board while the computer is unplugged
What’s potentially bad:
- larger than the stock 4.5v battery. It may be harder to secure inside the case if it cannot make contact with the Velcro pad on the logic board
Overall I am pleased with the product and found it met my needs quite well. I would purchase it again.Read full review

Great Battery for an Old Mac
It works perfectly, but it is a bit larger than the original. There was no place I could use the the included Velcro to attach it to the motherboard, so I just let it sit on top. But it works great! I’m using it in an old Power Mac 6500Read full review

Better than the original
New version of discontinued RayOVac battery. While available, they won't be fresh, and certainly more expensive than this option.
