A true walk on the other side of midnight-

Mad men has a way of making one take it seriously and all while presenting the most bazzare of subject matter firstly. In secret I couldnt believe this concept of television exists. It reminds of Salvadore Dali paintings or mental journeys in wayward off center concepts. In fact the movie saturates one in the unusual or just plain "UN" rules of television series programming and i mean these guys or girls really did some experimenting in unusual ways too. I sure hope that wasnt the way the advertising business once was. It comes off as a twilight or other type of televison experience and presents some wonderful and consistantly quiet background sound for the versatile and attention grabbing scripts. You wont want to put the new film down but after watching it once I found the need to return only to certain parts mainly. Rewatching a full season once seen already seems like a chore. The smoking is basically almost unbearable and I found myself hoping that the cigarettes were fake or synthetic for the film only.Read full review...

Yes. This series had started Me wanting to watch Volumes 1- 6 without a break! Excellent! Had a lower feeling for the ending of this series final though..

Mad men season 1

The double live, the cheating, the adventure with another woman, this life everybody has in a real live. The travel to another time with all same situations that happen on everyday live, think about this, today everybody has seen or know a Don Draper, on these series you can see that no matter time, does not matter when or what, we all keep secrets, Don Draper living on a double live that sometimes is hard for him to keep apart, then the game of stepping on others in order to be ahead of the game, in order to have better job, better position on the workplace. The writer on these series made an excellent drama that make you wander; What would happen next? What would you do on his or her situation? And bringing actual events on the 60's era, that makes you think, Does this really happen in the real live? Not really, but all this makes an interesting drama to follow, I bought season 2 and 3, before I got this one, all though I had seen season one, so I bought it just to have the three series. Very entertaining, highly recommended.

Great Series, one of the best shows on televsion today.

Mad Men is one of the best shows on television discussing life in 1960's America. The show does a excellent job of showing the how Jon Hamm's character (Don Draper),the White-male with the great job and the great salary is still unhappy with his life. Also the show describes how Elizabeth Moss's character (Peggy) struggles with being a woman in 1960's America. Peggy in the first season of the show is constantly being hit on and sexual harassed by the male executives in the office.

The show does an excellent job in showing society's attitudes about sex at the time. When Peggy goes into the doctor's office to get contraceptives, the doctor says that he will not continue her prescription if she sleeps with a lot of men. But Jon Hamm's character at the same time has multiple affairs with several woman and he is considered a stud.

Season 1 of Mad Men does a great job of discussing the life of professional white men coming into the city from the suburbs, the struggles that woman had to go through at the time and the beginnings of the hippie movement and Civil Rights Movements. I hope that Season 2 continues on in doing a good job in describing this time in American history.Read full review...

Drama that pulls you in

Full of good and bad characters, many to be enjoyed, few that are really likeable. Right from the start, the show really engages you. Each show entertains enough that you're surprised when they end, because it doesn't seem like they lasted long enough... the enjoyment makes time fly. We've watched 5 seasons so far and all shows have been good. I must say that, starting with season 4, the shows seem to get "meatier," as if new writers were involved. Spectacular writing, acting, production

I don't normally write reviews, but Mad Men has me so enthralled that I just had to urge anyone who is trying to decide whether or not to buy this set to take the plunge and buy it!

The Mad Men narrative here in season 1 and the current season is superlative. The characters are so well written and played, no wonder it won the Emmy a couple of weeks ago for best drama. The whole production is incredibly rich and nuanced.

Mad Men Season 1

If you like Mad Men you will like this. I bought it to catch up as I started viewing the series with season two. However, ff I had seen the first episode before I was "hooked" I am not sure I would have watched this series. It was flat and disconnected and the story seemed to move very slowly.

The actors and story lines clearly get better as the series moves along. If you picked up the series in season 2, like I did, this is essential to catch up. You do miss a lot without the character information from season one.

This series grows on you - the more you watch it the more you like it.Read full review...
