A good surprise

Missed this series the first time round . Now I'm hooked. This period piece (1950s-60s) is well written and shows the attitudes of the day towards so many aspects of our society at the time. Some of it can be quite brutal reflecting their prejudices but these are still prevelant in today's society. The acting is excellent and the plots are so watchable. Mad Men Series 1 DVD

I love Mad Men and have seen all three series, bought this Series 1 for my friend. Hope she enjoys it as much as I did.

Everyone seems to enjoy this series, but I found it boring!

I started watching series 1, when it was shown on TV & after two episodes I switched off as I just could not get into it.

However, hearing how much my friends were enjoying it up to series 5, I decided to give it another try. This time I watched the whole of series 1 & really struggled to get into it, I thought it was flaky.
Undeterred I have now watched series 2 & it is certainly a little more interesting, but still doesn't grab me, indeed I can only watch two episodes at a time, before I have had enough.Read full review...

Best TV writing ever?

Great writing, incredible style, characters with secrets who are actually given time to reveal them. Great portrait of an era and the men and womens' different experiences of it. Highly recommended!

This is a great item, well worth having! It is a multiple dvd pack which means you can watch it straight through. A must have to a good DVD collection.
