Great story! Great Stars!

Wonderful loosely based film biography of the famous ground breaking scientist.
The film is top notch Hollywood story telling given the MGM star treatment & the famous pairing of the two leads.
Greer Garson & Walter Pidgeon were one of the most famous & successful MGM movie star couples of the 40’s & 50’s sharing great screen chemistry starring in 8 films together inc Mrs Miniver - The Miniver Story - Blossoms in the Dust & That Forsythe Woman.
Directed by Mervyn LeRoy this 1943 film was one of their most successful.
MGM Hollywood film making at its finest.
Happy to add it to my collection.
Great DVD transfer

Madame Currie is a true gem of a movie...

I love Greer Garson and Walter Pigeon. The story telling in this movie is enjoyable to watch and also educational. Everyone can appreciate the rewards of doing something you believe in no matter how hard it is to achieve. This true story is an inspiration for both the young and older viewers. Children should watch more movies like this to spark their interest and to learn of the scientists who shaped our world. Great family movie.Read full review

Life, Work and Times of Madame and Monsieur Curie

Madame Curie, starring Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon as her husband with whom she shared a nobel prize for physics, is an entertaiing and intelligent historical drama based on the life of this pioneering woman scientist and the discovery and isolation of radium, with its potential to harm but also heal, This award winning and well cast movie is Interesting and enjoyable, without resorting to unnecessary deviant behavior or gratuitius violence. The Warner Archive archive DVD is flawless, and the black and white presentation seems consistent with the times protrayed, perhaps evoking a more powerful sense of realism.Read full review
