The original & the best film Maigret
The first & the original film Maigret. I've seen the other versions with Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), and Michael Gambon (Dumbledore). They're good too, but this one is great. It says a lot about the caliber of actors playing the part of Maigret. You see a lot of French culture and landscapes in these films. The pace is slow compared to other versions. Personally, I prefer the slower pace. I wonder if this is a French trait? A more leisurely existence. While travelling there, we always had long lunches, and dinner around 8 p.m. , and it was always worth the wait. Other fictional detectives like Sherlock Holmes, and even Columbo are great at catching the culprits. Maigret is a more relaxed psychological study of criminality. Personally, I don't believe that criminals are born. Yet, who in real life has the time to delve into every criminals' psyche? Only a fictional detective. Bruno Cremer is Maigret. I'm not sure if he ever had any other roles; this one is his best, I'll bet.Read full review

Bruno Cremer is an excellent Maigret
Bruno Cremer is an excellent Maigret. I purchased the collection because it has English subtitles. The disk with "Maigret goes home" and "Maigret and the Death of Harbour Master" was a duplicate of disk disk five so the set is missing those episodes. The set was factory sealed so it must be a manufacturing error. Read full review

80 Hours of Great Mysteries
The series has been remastered for HD TV and the picture quality is amazing compared to the original series shown on TV. If you like old fashion mysteries with a good plot, interesting characters (great old cars), and without a lot of violence, I would highly recommend Maigret.Read full review

Huge value for the money, lots of episodes and each is nearly two hours. Bruno is a great Maigret. The subtitles are easy to read.

Best in the world
They do not make films like this, anymore. Fine acting, fabulous backgrounds and the pipe! It doesn't get any better. It's slow, with
no loud music, at anytime. Love it!

Excel.
Was doubtful due to being in French. Never had experience with subtitles. Was surprised how I got used to them. Not sorry I purchased.

Vive Maigret
Not quite BBC Rupert Davies, but entertainig. Awful subtitles, though. Must have been done by someone with poor level of English.
