This book goes into great detail on how to just about everything when it comes to making your own clothing and on top of it all, it has a piece of software that you can use to design you own patterns!
For the beginner and advanced alike it is excellent for starting out and brushing up on skills.
I highly recommend this book and the software that is included!

great book, worth it for beginners or experienced

This book really completes the software. The patternmaker software is available free on line, or in several more advanced versions at incremental prices. All of the software can provide templates to cut pattern pieces, but the general "how to" information in the book "Make Your Own Clothes" is invaluable in building the confidence to actually sew the pieces into finished garmets. Nice for new sewers and to try out pattern software

I mainly purchased the book to try out the pattern drafting software. It works pretty well. The book and CD are MUCH less expensive than the full version of the software, plus the book has instructions on putting the clothes together which the full version software does not. The book itself is written for those new to sewing, and has a lot of basic information, nicely presented and easy to follow. I doubt if anyone will like ALL of the patterns on the CD, but there's probably at least a couple of things for almost anyone, including a couple of children's patterns. Well worth the purchase price if you want to learn to sew or want to try the pattern software.Read full review...

Great software for beginning patternmaking

This book contains a cd that will print patterns through your home computer and printer. You measure yourself or the person the pattern is for and enter the measurements into the grid. You do have to tape the pattern together, but what you end up with is a custom fit for a basic garment. These garments can then be used to add more or take away seams, depending on what ready made style you are recreating.Read full review...

I decided to buy this book because it comes with software that you enter your mesurements and the patterns print out in YOUR exact size. I love this book. Excellent!

Although I've only flipped through it, I'm very impressed with the book already. It offers basic step-by-step instructions and a customizable pattern CD-ROM. I'm excited to get crafty!
