Excellent genuine batteries

I only buy genuine makita lxt lithium ion batteries. They cost more but buying the knock off's is false economy. Consistent, fast, longlasting power is what you pay for and get. Don't skimp on the power source for your investment in your quality tools.Read full review...

Best avoided!

- These are not genuine Makita brand batteries (I agree the ad wording says "for Makita")
- The ad says "5.0Ah". The ones I received are marked "7.0Ah". They perform poorly, maybe 20% as good as my genuine Makita 18v 5.0Ah batteries.
- ? Maybe I can use them as a substitute for proper batteries on gentle tasks for a short period of time.

BL1850 5.0AH Makita Battery

Top quality genuine battery may cost more than copies but does last longer. At 5.0AH it will certainly give staying power on the job especially for high drain users like the DTW1001 and DHP481 that I use (impact wrench /High torque drill).
Battery is no bigger and feels the same weight as its 3.0AH sibling; see picture. The charge indicator is also useful for telling how much charge is in the battery without being connected to a tool.
I have bought copy batteries in the past but the genuine do have the edge.

Not good but so far not all bad

You can hear and feel the difference between these 5Ah and an old 3Ah battery, these seem to chug along for slightly less time and the tool feels like it's just got out of bed. No go and goes back to sleep quickly.
I would say it's more of a chunky 2Ah than a 5.
Worth it for the case if you want to put your own cells in though. But not the cheapest way to do it.

As expected

Just as you’d expect from makita.
This has the battery life indicator button that lets you know what charge is left in the battery.

Just brilliant!

Been a Makita cordless user for 15 years now and can’t praise the 18v, and more recently the 36v (2x18v configuration) highly enough. These 5 amp batteries are considerably better than the 3a and 4a versions and definitely worth the investment.

What I would add is to try and avoid the third party batteries which, whilst cheaper, I’ve read can damage your tools and lose their rechargeable much quicker.

Top quality

The real deal. I’ve tried the fake makita batteries, which whilst good for light duties, are nothing compared to this. Can use in heavy duty drill all day drilling holes in walls with ease. Brilliant

Looking good, batteries are lasting well between charges.

Great fit in the charger and the implements, longevity is the key but that just takes time to tell.

Good

I have several of these batteries which I use with various Makita tools. No problems with any of them, and the run times seem to be pretty good. The only downside is that they seem pretty expensive, but perhaps no more so than similar capacity batteries from other tool brands.Read full review...
