Solid Tripod !!!

This tripod is heavy duty and able to handle a large full frame DSLR. Attaching the camera is easy since there is plenty of room to fit your fingers for turning the tripod screw.

It's a little heavy, but not too heavy for portable operations. It's midway between a super heavy duty studio tripod and a lightweight highly portable tripod.

Bottom line, this tripod can be trusted for heavier gear. Also, there will be less chance of it blowing over like the featherlight tripods are known to do. Of course, any tripod has limits and judgement should be exercised in securing your system under certain wind conditions.

Fantastic, Stable, Versatile Field Tripod

When you need an odd angle or position for your camera, with unlevel ground, this tripod and head combo shines! The head can invert upside down, then flip around beneath the tripod and still retain a vertical shooting position for low to the ground shooting such as macro photography may require.

If you are tall, never fear. You can have your camera rock solid at eye level or higher. The legs can also splay outward very wide, providing yet another way to go low for shooting.

I've had the Bogen 3021 with the 3028 head for about 36 years, and it is still my favorite field tripod. I give it 4 stars, because it is heavy and awkward to carry in the field that it was designed to excel in. Today there are much lighter options available that can nearly match the versatility of this model, but you have to shell out about 6x the price you can have this one in good condition in the used market.

For my needs, I'll keep lugging this thing around and save a few hundred dollars!Read full review...
