Great low cost geared head

I really like this head. It does feel a little less solid compared to some of the others but for my needs (I shoot mirrorless - Olympus E-M1 and E-M5 II with a variety of lenses) it’s more than stable enough. For Architectural photography it is a must, and incredibly useful for product and landscape work. Plus it’s light enough to carry to remote locations so I can always have a geared head with me. I can’t comment on stability with a heavier camera system but for mirrorless or a smaller DSLR I would highly recommend this head.Read full review

Excellent Geared Head!

This is the "New" geared head from Manfrotto. I've had a few of the previous geared heads, the Big Heavy Duty 405, and the medium weight 410, and this new MHX Pro 3 WG geared head is a great new technopolymer design. It's lighter weight and easier to use "Out in the Field." Having used the 410 for many years, I like how the new MHX levers allow you to "unlock" and quickly move the major axes of the head into position, then Fine Tune with the knob. It's a great design, and I'm using it "On Location" and "Out in the Field" every day now.

Good head...not what I needed

It is a good piece for the price. But there is "slop" in the gearing that makes "true" tilts or pans NOISEY in the small movements as other rotations interfere with the single axis being manipulated .
however if true precision is not needed this is a good product. I would recommend depending on the needs. (it is just not what I needed)

The turn-knobs are non-linear

And - the turn-knobs are hard to turn. You might think you can use it for panning but, the crank is non-linear, and is intermittent.

It is not worth the price it is being listed for.
