Normal position cassette tapes.

I have always used chrome or metal cassette tapes.
But I recently purchased a cassette player that only plays normal cassette tapes.
I find that normal cassette tapes are not as dynamic as said above tapes but if you have a Hi-fi and a good recording to copy, you can get decent output from normal cassette tapes providing you get the recording level just right.

As I remember them

It's a long time since I've used cassettes to record on but these Maxell ones are pretty much how I remember them. Good quality and no problems at all with them.
I was expecting them to be more expensive than they were but a great price. I always used Maxell or TDK so a bit of a blast from the past.
