MOVING, BEAUTIFULLY DESCRIPTIVE AND INSPIRING

The author Raynor Winn makes you evaluate what is important in your life and what isn't. Her narrative is moving, beautifully descriptive, her intense love of nature and an eye opener to a whole culture I knew very little about - wild camping. It is a love story - a battle to survive against everything life can throw at you. Having to face challenges without help - yet there is no self pity. I will read this book time and again because it has given me hope in a world that offers little compassion. Highly recommended.Read full review...

How love can help.

The most enthralling, sad, gutsy humorous book I have ever read.A true story of how love can make life bearable. Sad that both the author and her wonderful husband have both recently died.

A great read, loved it.

This book is set on my local coast line, so I know the area very well. I have walked along the same coastal path. I could not put this book down. There was something about it that just kept me reading it. I really enjoyed reading this book. Read full review...

Inspiring and deeply upsetting

What a fantastic story and insight into how life can change overnight. How two people can overcome great loss to come out on top in the end.
I experienced every emotion reading this. Made me come away appreciating what I have and to take care of those people I love.Read full review...

Wonderful

I thoroughly enjoyed this book following the true events. It must have been such a hard time for them which none of us are ever (thankfully) likely to have to endure. But, it seems to be a time of renewal and hope for them as well and having read it I felt uplifted. I would thoroughly recommend it. We read it in our book group and we all loved it and it provided a great discussion.Read full review...

Compelling reading.

This is a compelling story and made so interesting when , like me , you are familiar with the coastline, and can visualize it. The courage of the couple forging ahead with the walk , when life has dealt them a raw deal is amazing, and I thoroughly recommend this account of their travels.Read full review...

Wild, thought provoking and engaging!

Fabulous read of long distance walking, dramatic West country coastline and homelessness... not a subject one would think makes a good book, but it's brilliantly written and the author deserves recognition for portraying their experience in every honest detail. The book would make a wonderful film!Read full review...

An unusual, but clever title. Didn't realise the significance until I was well into the book.

This is one of the best books I've read in ages. I would say it was life-affirming even. So positive in the face of such challenges - quite humbling.
