This is undoubtedly the greatest air craft carrier movie ever made. This epic film chronicles the greatest air and sea battle of the Pacific war with the Japanese. The United States had been totally caught off guard at Pearl Harbor, and if the Japanese had realized just how badly they had hurt us, they could have possibly attacked the California coast. With only three remaining aircraft carriers in the Pacific, the United States Navy decided to set an ambush for the Japanese fleet of aircraft carriers, battleships, and about two hundred support vessels steaming for Midway in 1942. We had broken their codes and knew that their plan was to occupy Midway thus giving them control of the entire eastern Pacific. The ensuing battle left Japan with Four carriers sunk, a loss of more than three hundred aircraft and around forty of their other surface support vessels. The Midway victory pushed the Japanese back almost 2000 miles, and was the beginning of their defeat. This was an excellent movie with a great cast including Charlton Heston, Robert Mitchum, Henry Fonda, and many others.Read full review...

Great movie. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes movies about WWII. Yhis movie is also a good history lesson about how this battle developed.
