Mike Batt - A Songwriter's Tale

This CD encapsulates Mike Batt's varied career to date as a songwriter and performer. Many of the songs are well know for being recorded by other artists, and some might be surprised at the wide range of artists Mike has worked with. My favorite track - Ride to Agadir - is the reason I bought this CD. Although still a great song, this is a new recording of this track, (originally on the rock/classic Schizophonia album recorded in the 70s which, in its time, was groundbreaking) and lacks some of the dynamic energy of the original recording - but is still, non the less, a great track. The Soldiers Song will sadden you, if not make you weep, and the powerful lyrics are not easy listening, but it makes an important point about the victims of war. All in all this is a good CD, and well worth the pennies!Read full review...

Mike Batt Sings His Own Songs

This CD was originally bought for one track but it is overall a excellent album
of mainly new recordings of Mike Batt singing his own version a number of songs he has written over the years for other people. From 'Bright Eyes' feathured in the film 'Watership Down' 'A winters Tail',Caravan Song' and 'Closest Thing to Crazy' to name a few. Mike Batt does a great job of all the tracks although my favourite and the track it was bought for was 'Soldier's Song' recorded in the 1960's by the Hollies and thought by many to be the best version however the composer's does excellent job. This album is well worth a listen as many of the songs will be familiar and the composers voice seems to suit them all. It is released on his own label called DramaticoRead full review...

An amazing CD to listen to. Try and listen when you are alone and a captive audience, whilst driving for instance. Each track is a story and the words are incredible. Unforgettable.
