Ageless is the best term for this series

I had never watched YES MINISTER and one day when driving home I heard one small part of one episode on the radio. I was frankly blessed by about the most clever comedic dialogue I had ever heard. I rented the first disc that day and watched it right through - sheer brilliance. Right out of the gate, the characters were fully resolved, with all the subtleties and nuances you'd expect from a long-running show.

Well, the rest is history as they say - I purchased the entire series and enjoy every second of it. by the way, there is an Australian show, called "GRASS ROOTS" that is comparable - set in local government, it contains all the machinations and comedy of errors, of Yes Minister, but with a local, small town flavour.Read full review...

Political comedy that is relevant today

It is surprising how a comedy programme about politics, made many years ago, can still be so relevant today, with subjects including Europe, austerity cuts, the NHS, education etc. etc.
Superb examples of history repeating itself, told by a team of well known, and excellent, actors, some now, unfortunately, no longer with us.
The comedy interaction and timing is second to none, only enhanced by the very expressive facial reactions.
