A great little engineer's calculator.
I remember using this when I was a trainee machinist way back in 1962 . It was perpetually kept in my top pocket and proved invaluable - everyone in the workshop had one. I don't know if the contents have changed much over the years, but the black and yellow cover design hasn't. I'm retired now but still find this little book worth its weight in gold - a must have, even if you are just drilling & tapping.Read full review

Good, but flawed
Back in the 1970s when ~I was an industrial engineer, some of the tap and die detail booklets I got from manufacturers like Dormer and Goliath were more logically organised than the Zeus book. But for the amateur engineer, the Zeus book seems the only one left.
The main issue I have is that tapping and clearance drill sizes for non-metric threads are shown in a separate table to what might be called the identification table. The latter contains some less useful details such as crest/flat and effective diameter values which would be better in the separate table.
This is different to the metric threads, where tapping and clearance sizes are included in the main table.
There is no longer any detail table for BA threads, just tapping drill sizes.
I think this is inferior to the Zeus book I remember from the '70s.
It's useful mainly because it has no competition. It's what's left, so we have to use it.Read full review

If I hadn't been recommended this product, I would never have found it from its name.
It has everything I need in such a compact and well-finished (mechanics-proof) format.

Great little book
Strong, wipeclean, pocker sized, logically laid out, this book is easy to use at the bench with oily hands. I wish I got one before, much handier than big expensive thread bibles or googling stuff.

ok but not revised enough and lower quality than old versions
I have had a copy of the zeus tables since 1968 and it was very worn so bought a new one.
The new book is the metric revised version. The positioning in the book of the threads is not as expected as it starts with metric fine which is rarely used.
I would have expected a metric version to have included threads up to 6mm but the smaller thread details are not listed ( pitch/tapping drills etc)
Also the print in the book is not as clear as the old version so I cannot see this book lasting anywhere near as long as my existing copy.Read full review

Outdated
This was once the very pinnacle of useful data; now the essentials are on my rule, my calipers, my gauges. I'd thought the tables would have moved to make up the difference but they're exactly as they were twenty years ago though the data environment has moved on. Google is quicker to look things up and the poor printing and mis-aligned binding makes this look pretty poor. Handy if you can't afford a smart-phone.Read full review

Zeus chart the engineers pocket bible
The updated version is just as good as the original I bought as an apprentice in 1968. I still have it a little dog eared by now but still serviceable. I purchased a new one for the metric fine thread chart and the machine coding pages.Read full review
