Monty python dvd box set

WOW! This has just got to be one of my all time favourite collections. This set shows the evolution of some of the finest humor ever to have graced the small and silver screens. "And now for something completely different" extended the format that was successfully used in the seminal TV show incorporating many of the funniest sketches ever shown. If I were to say Parrot Sketch, The Lumberjack Song, and Nudge Nudge Wink Wink I'd be just scratching the surface.

"Holy Grail" introduces us to the dreaded killer rabbit, the Knight who say Ni! and the best battlement hurled insults I've ever enjoyed - Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries! "Life of Brian" pokes (or rather deliberately doesn't poke) fun at what is possibly one of the greatest stories ever told, and in doing so earned the wrath of many small minded and insecure people, but gave us fantastic one liners like "He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!" and "Romanii Eunt Domus - People called Romans they go the house? What's that supposed to mean?" Who can forget the classic scene in Pilate's chamber when you can see Michael Palin contorting his face in trying not to laugh while explaining that he "has a gweat fwiend in Wome". And at the last, the greatest song of all time "Always look on the bright side of life" complete with dancing corpses and crucifixes.

"The Meaning of Life" is in my opinion the best of the crop. The pinnacle of python humour refined to the purest gags. School took on a new angle for me, and the truly brilliant (and mostly scientifically accurate) Amazing and Expanding Universe song just provided a crowning moment in the movie. Gathered together, this collection should come with a health warning - "WARNING: These movies can seriously warp your sense of humour and can cause excessive and uncontrollable laughter".

Buy this set at your peril, but believe me it is worth the risk.

Classic - It just gets better!!

I am going through a "That was brilliant!" phase where you see something you loved as a teenager - buy it - and (usually) CRINGE while your partner tries not to look horrified (e.g. flashdance). But this box set is still brilliant (thankfully I have gained some credibility back!)
It has everything all the films, special features and is really well presented. I highly recommend this for the over 35's because when you watch these movies now you will relate so much better than you did as a youngster! I found myself noticing loads of things I had missed (mostly the point of the satire!)and I am happy to say that although they do appear dated they have moved into the realms of Classic not Corny!
I also bought the Fawlty Towers box set and this is brilliant too!
Throw away all your single python dvds and those greasy vhs tapes and buy this - you will be really pleased - I was. Does anyone want some crappy, greasy vhs tapes of Monty Python Movies taped off the telly? Thought not!!!

Monty Python the Movies

The best movies ever made. Absolutely brilliantly inspired, only Douglas Adams' Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy has been more influential in my life. These films have with a few others have enabled me to find the true meaning of life and where the Holy Grail actually exists. I hope that one day soon Brian will be able to tell the whole world. the holy grail is a must along with the life of brian, i defy anyone with half a sense of humour to not enjoy it, way ahead and beyond of its day, the python team were amazing.
I beg please buy a copy on e-bay, mine cost £4 plus a pound postage for aseven dvd set.
