This is a top-quality product and is probably better than many competitors. The small Shropshire based producer has been one of the best for many years. It has a product list that covers many types including steam oil, R type of racing oil. First press Castor which is better than many of the few other producers of this type of oil. Morris is a very valuable producer of the type of oils which we need.

Best oil for classic engines

I am most impressed by Golden film 20/50. Using it for over a year in my old Landrover S11A. The engine starts easier, runs quieter and more responsive. Previously I have used quite expensive top brands that are not as good as this. So its great value. I have no reason to use anything else.Read full review

Morris 20W50 oil

Changing the engine and gearbox oil in my 1933 Austin 7 AH Tourer for the start of touring/ showing season. Have previously used a thinner oil but not convinced it was doing the job.
Changed to this Morris 20W50 oil following recommendations from others.
Arrived just after I had drained the engine and gearbox oils, so re-filled with the new oil.
Only done a few short (15 mile) trips, but definately the oil is much better in the engine. Maybe slighty to thick (was SAE40) for the gearbox but really need to get everything hot before I can fully compare.
Overall pleased with price and quality of the oil, so would recommend.Read full review

High quality, old fashioned Mineral OIl meeting today's extreme standards issues

Had an issue with a noisy hydraulic valve lifter on my 1972 Ford E100 Econoline Van running a 302ci V8 engine. The previous owner had used a fully synthetic oil perfect for modern engines but these old V8's need a heavier mineral oil,. what had happened was that the oil being so thin in comparison to a fully synthetic it just burned away like extra fuel. A drain, filter change, and re-fill with Golden Film and the lifter issue is all but gone haven't been out in it yet on a road run but so much quieter than before. may not even need to do any spanner work on it. Have used this oil for years and always dependable results, The amber liquid ,reminiscent to my favourite tipple exhudes quality, looking like real oils from the past. Morris Oils

Morris oil is not a household name as it is not stocked by many garages or car parts retail outlets. However, it has been in existence since 1869. Based in Shrewsbury it is a most impressive operation and I was lucky enough to be part of a guided tour around the factory a few years ago.

Up to that point, although I had heard of Morris oils I considered them to be a basic middle of the range product for older vehicles. I only use top quality oils in my vehicles and had never considered using any Morris product in my car. However, all that changed after my factory visit.

This firm works closely with some of the most prestigious marques in the country and their care and attention to quality control was very impressive. I also had no idea that they make oil for one of the biggest names in the business, though it is a fact that they do not readily admit to.

Recently I needed some oil for a classic car automatic gear box and had great difficulty sourcing it, until advised that Morris make, it as they supply it to a major manufacturer that uses the sam product.

Classic car oil of the best quality

Owning an older car presents different challenges not met by todays oils and what our older vehicles need is oil that doesn't wash away easily but stays as a film on the metal and other components hence why we have to buy "classic" oils to enable prime lubrication.

I have tried this out in my 850cc all alloy Reliant engine and since filling, the car starts a lot quieter, OHV clacking is also quieter and it just seems a little more fiesty than with standard 20w50 stuff.

So yes I would recommend this oil, its quality is very good in my opinion.Read full review

MORRIS Golden Film 20/50 used in restoration of a classic FERRARI

For years I've used this oil in my 1978 DUCATI 900SS Desmo with excellent results and I was amazed to see recently on CAR SOS this oil being used in the restoration of a classic 1970's FERRARI DINO - you could clearly see Fuzz pouring the oil into the engine from a Morris container !
My DUCATI has a wet clutch and modern synthetic oils would cause clutch-slip.

Perfect for Aircooled BMW motorcycles

Engines designed 40 or 50 years ago where developed in conjunction with the oils of the time, so don’t take kindly to modern oils. Morris have got it right with this oil especially for any OHV engine with flat tappet blocks.
