I came upon this program by accident, and when I saw it was set in my childhood home of Toronto, I was hooked. It is interesting to me to see the names of many streets and places in Toronto that bring back pleasant memories. The settings of this series is unbelievable - so realistic. The scripts and actors are great too. My only criticism is the phony English accent by some of the characters who are not necessarily English in the script. Canadians may have an accent, but it is not British English; indeed; more American than otherwise. Overall, it is an excellent series, enough so, as of this date,I have all nine seasons. Good History and Entertaining

I have watched all 9 seasons along with their Christmas special. I would and have recommend this wonderful series to all who love a mystery as well a history lessons They make you feel like you are part of the family and completely believable characters. Finally, a family show!!

It's so hard to find a TV series I can watch with my family, but this is one! It's got compelling characters. Solid, albeit slow, character development, and plots that relate to significant moments in history. No cursing, or nudity of course. There are the usual dealings with sexuality and relationships, but nothing that can't be explained politely. My family and I watched the first few seasons on Netflix and bought the rest, to anxious to wait. We've also checked out some more programs from Acorn media which are also quality.
