If you don't know her, you should!!

I fell in love with the Whitmans years ago when I first read of their journey to Oregon in 1836, Narcissa being the first white woman to cross the Rockies, a trip said to be impossible for women. They established a mission to the Cayuse Indians there, and were instrumental in opening the west to future oregon trail travellers, and the settling of the far west. They have not been given their due credit in history!!! Narcissa kept a journal along the way, and then wrote letters home from Oregon. An ordinary woman who did an amazing thing in her life, her journal lets you 'know' her and travel with her. I highly recommend you get to know these people and appreciate their work and place in our history.Read full review
