Neato XV-21 Pet & Allergy is your best choice in robotic vaccuums for effectiveness.
Neato is unique in the robotic vacuum market in that all they make are robot vacs. They started out in business for the sole purpose of solving the shortcomings of other brands. Most other robot vacs have high speed sweeper brush rolls, with no actual vacuum motor. Neato's vacuum motors are powerful enough to compare to better quality stick vacs. That suction power in conjunction with the very effective roller brush, gives you have a contender to replace your full size upright vacuum! Neato also has advanced navigation with their laser mapping LIDAR hardware and updatable firmware. Their bot vacs perform their job very quickly and efficiently, using an overlapping pattern in the systematic manner of a person mowing a lawn. My first Neato was the XV-11. It reliably performed in suctioning up & roller brushing in pet hair from carpeting and tile, and had enough suction force to pull in debris from slightly beyond the vac's body as it worked. I decided to replace it with the quieter and more efficient XV-21 after carefully reviewing specs and demo videos by owners and hobbyists on YouTube. Those hobbyists are battle robot enthusiasts, who for years have used the Neato chassis, with it's powerful motor, advanced circuitry, LIDAR system, memory and "all terrain" tread wheels & suspension as a sturdy, reliable base for their arena robot warriors! That says a lot right there about the quality and ability of Neato products.Read full review

Not as Robotic as they say
Mine only holds a charge for an hour, so I have to do two separate rooms in the morning, and when it charges I do the rest of the house, but it has to charge again before it is finished. If you have a small house it would work good. I like the way it picks up, but it skips a lot of the floor so I have to spot clean it. I have to be here when it cleans because it gets stuck in the hallway, and under chairs. It takes an hour and a half to recharge so it takes all day for it to clean. They don't give you enough strip to lay on the floors so expect to spend some extra money if you have areas where you want it not to go.Read full review

Neato is neato!
It took a few days to acclimate. It gets stuck more often than I had hoped. Because we have all hardwood floors in an open floor plan, hearth room, family room, kitchen, with a few 5' X 7' rugs, Neato gets "lost". I have to pick the vacuum up and move it frequently. Also it can't "find" it's way back to the docking station from the furthest point away from the station. I really can't use the schedule because I can't run it while I'm away for the afore mentioned reasons. However it is great for spot cleaning and one room cleaning. It is easy to clean after use.Read full review

Great little vacuum
I gave this as a birthday present to a friend who has back problems. He complained about it at first because he said it was trying to climb the furniture amongst other things. I told him I would love to have it, and that inspired him to find his learning curve with this awesome appliance. It tells you when to clean the roller brush and when to empty the dust bin. It also alerts you when something is stuck in it. Overall this is wonderful appliance! If I could, I would buy one for each of my family members and friends!!!
Pros: vacuums carpet and bare floors nicely, recharges itself, no more back strain from a typical vacuum, leaves time to get other things done or relax
Cons: roller brush needs to be cleaned regularlyRead full review

Neat litlle bot from Neato
I generally like the performance of this botvac, but it gets stuck on things a bit too much to give it the full 5 stars.
Pros: Quiet, easy to empty, generally performs well, easy set-up, super-rad SNES-inspired grey and purple color scheme.
Cons: Gets stuck a lot, can't quite vacuum my whole apartment before needing a rechargeRead full review

Had to return it, haven't back from the seller yet
Right out of the box, the vacuum had problems. Although it was refurbished, it was promised to work as if new. It would not charge directly from the cord, which was one of the options instead of charging it from the base. The Neato is supposed to map-out the room, but it just randomly vacuumed, sometimes over the same areas again and again. It would insist the something was in its path, or the brush was stuck, when neither of those things was the case. For these reasons, the vacuum had to be baby-sat and so there was no point in programming it to vacuum when I wasn't home because it would get hung up on some weird glitch. I contacted the selled who asked me to contact Neato, but none of their fixes worked, so the seller offered me the option of returning it, which I did last week. I have not heard from the seller that they have accepted the return.Read full review

Great little vacuum!
Love this vacuum so far. It wakes every other day at exactly 9 am right on schedule. It cleans great and leaves our house so much cleaner than before we bought it. We have put our Shark vacuum away for the most part. The only issues are small ones. For one it sometimes gets stuck under furniture. You have to clean the brushes out about once a week. And sometimes the poor thing gets lost and can't find its way back to the charging base. Its frustrating to watch it going all over the kitchen looking for its charger when the charger was right in front of it!Read full review

Best Robotic out there!
I've owned several robotic sweepers. The Neato, by far is the best one out there. We have pets in our house so an automatic sweeper is a must for us. It is methodical with the back/forth sweeping...not missing any of the living area. Others scurry around your floors and you just hope they will eventually get all of the area. Not with the Neato. Its laser mapping covers our whole house and the neatest thing is when the battery is low it will go to it's docking station...recharge...and off it goes again to last place it left off. I had only one issue...in my carpeted living room the Neato gets "stuck" on the heat/air register. I just give it a nudge and off it goes. Programmable, easy to empty, easy to use. Absolutely LOVE it.Read full review

Just started using - cleans great but battery life stinks
Hi. We just ordered this item and started using it. So far it is great. It picks up dog hair and dirt, dust. We have had it run twice and emptied it once. It has only figured out one room’s area, so far, because it’s a big room with a lot of furniture. Works well. But the fully charged battery life really stinks. It lasts for an hour.Read full review

What a neat little thing!
Does a great job overall. I had to baby it for a couple of days because it kept getting stuck on large debris under beds, and it had to learn it's environment.
Overall it does a great job. It gets a little confused on my hardwoods, but I really got it for carpet anyways. I wish it got a little better along the baseboards where a bunch of pet hair has collected, but I dont mind zipping through once a month to vacuum that up. The bin is easy to clean. We have 1 dog, 2 cats, and 4 adults living here and I empty the bin once a day.Read full review
