Quality Mesh WiFi

I bought the Orbi RBK50. It is well made and aesthetically pleasing in any home environment. It is different to other Mesh WiFi systems at this price point as it has multiple Ethernet ports on both the router and satellite which is a real plus for me when you have a NAS, powerline, PC etc to connect up. There is a also USB port which can be used to hook up a networked printer using Netgear’s Readyshare driver software, if you’ve run out of Ethernet ports. Installation and setup is a breeze using either the Orbi app or web interface and can be done in 10-15 minutes. I personally preferred to use the web interface as it has more features to configure as per a standard dual band router but the app is good for the basic setup. Check out the numerous YouTube videos for either installation method. In terms of operation, I have a 200Mbps broadband connection and I can confirm that within 20 feet of either the router or satellite, a device will connect at around the 200Mbps speed. I noticed that I could also get a speed of 50Mbps out in the garden around 100ft away from my satellite travelling through one brick wall. The speed and stability of the WiFi signal is maintained by the dedicated 5GHz band between the router and satellite (the backhaul), leaving the 2.4GHz and other 5GHz bands to serve the client devices. This is a key feature and a must for any mesh system. The system is also scalable, so additional satellites can be added to cover large properties. I have had the router for a few weeks and have not had to touch it once set up. In summary, to anyone who values a fast, stable WiFi service throughout their home, then this is the mesh system to buy.Read full review...

At last an answer to whole house WiFi

Writing this having only been using this for a couple of days however so far it delivers all it claims. We live in a large three story home built of Cheshire red brick, these bricks get their name from a high iron oxide content that makes it difficult for WiFi signals to penetrate the walls. I've installed both units on the first floor at opposite ends of the property and I now have an excellent, single network signal in all rooms.
The units have recently been reduced in price and Amazon had further reduced the price on a recent one day sale, the cost is still a bit higher than a conventional router the investment is most definitely worth it. Unreservedly recommend.

3,500 sq ft Victorian double fronted over 3 floors.

Recommended
Finally a stable decent solution to a tricky layout house
Our house is principally 3 floors, but there are some 1/2 floors also for bathrooms and so you could argue there are 5 floors
My setup, I have kept my main router ,an Asus which I have configured in a certain way (various things aren't configurable yet until they do a firmware update with the Orbi router, e.g. no dnsomatic, and it doesn't have a vdsl included so you will still need your fibre modem to connect to the orbi router), and setup the Orbi router / satellites as purely the wifi part, after disabling the wifi on the asus.
Easy setup, very high broadband rates throughout the house.
Not many downsides, only to improved when the firmware gets more advanced for people that will expect more than a basic router.
Aside from that the main reason you are buying this is for the Wifi range... which is does superbly. Will be recommending to my neighbours, after I've sold all my powerline adaptors and powerline wifi access points.

Beats my old top BT system

Wifi all over house and Garden and street! V powerful and great speeds. If only the RRP wasn't so high, but worth it if money no issue.

Fast Wi-Fo throughout

The Netgear Orbi is expensive but provides maximum available speed throughout the house with no drop proportional to distance as is the case with most routers.

Excellent solution

Plugged in the item , it worked and has sorted out my connection problems.
It was that easy, if only the initial suppliers had decent equipment without trying to charge extra

Nice Mesh

My house was full of repeaters for the automation and now i only need the Orbi and its satellite. As with all Netgear products the software is a pain to negotiate when installing a new router, but its now been in faultless operation for a month.Read full review...

Strong WiFi everywhere.

My home layout too is a 3 storey with half floors in between. This product has definitely solved connections issues and can finally ditch the repeaters I had set up. The best thing about the Orbi is that I've managed to split the 2.4GHz & 5GHz into 2 separate channels, something that a mesh system or Netgear does not allow you to do.Read full review...
