NHL 10 - Best installment yet

This is by far the best game out there for anyone wanting to play an exhibition match, make your own pro, or immerse yourself in the gm mode. The last version I owned was 08 and the additional features included in this edition are great. Lots of tweaks to make the game play more to your style. The create your own pro mode is the most fun of all the EA games, really blows away the madden pro mode and is a lot more fun.

The only real minus I have compared to older games is that I find it a lot harder to score when moving up in difficulty levels...I realize its suppose to get harder but it seems like the difference between rookie and pro is the difference between pro and all-madden.

Awesome Hockey Game

I have been playing the NHL Hockey games for about 10 years now. EA makes the better game now, in the past I think it was 2K. In this game I love how you can hold a guy on the boards, you can poke check and kick at the puck along the boards, the graphics are really good. This is the second year they have used the Be A Pro mode. This is where you create your own hockey player and advance him from the minors to the NHL. It's pretty neat as long as you don't mind not having control over the other players. I would rent this before buying it to see if you like it. For me it was a must buy plus it had Patrick Kane on the cover. Go Blackhawks.Read full review...

Great new features!

Battle on the Boards: A new board play physics engine lets players shield the puck along the boards, kick-pass it to teammates, or pin an opponent.[2]
Intimidation Tactics: Players are able to fore-check defenders, pressure the puck, and finish checks to force your opposing skaters into making mistakes. Engaging the opposing team's star players will now instigate players and fans. Skaters who frequently harass star players will become antagonized by the opposing crowd and players.[2]
Post-Whistle Action: Players are able to finish checks, retaliate for late shots on goal, draw penalties, and pick fights after the referee blows the whistle.[2]
New First Person Fighting Engine: Players controlling the team's enforcer are able to engage instigators in a new first person fighting simulator.[2]
Spectacular Goals: Introducing spectacular new ways to score, like players one-timing loose pucks, stick-handling and shooting from their knees, batting pucks out of the air, and lifting a leg to fake a shot on goal.
New Precision Passing: A new 360° precision passing mechanic delivers control over the speed and direction of passes so players can bank passes off the boards or play the puck into space for teammates to skate on to it. Players take poor passes off their skates and kick the puck to their sticks.[2]
Improved Goalie Intelligence: Goaltenders will be able to position themselves more intelligently, react to shots more quickly, and recover from saves faster. NHL 10 features 250 new goalie animations, including swatting pucks out of the air, second and third saves, and desperation lunges.[2]
Interactive Atmosphere: Animations of fans within in the game have been rendered to appear more life-like and detailed. Playoff games will feature towel-waving fans and greater reactions from the crowds.[2]
Be A GM Mode: Players will now be able to control a team as if they were a general manager in the "Be A GM" mode. This feature enables players to build their own dynasty team through drafting, trading, and signing skaters. A player's success will be measured by the number of positive influences they have on their franchise.[2]
Battle for the Cup Mode: This mode allows players to choose two opposing teams and pit them against each other in the Stanley Cup Final. Players have the option to play a 1, 3, 5, or 7 game elimination round. The winning team will be presented with the Stanley Cup.

FIRST PERSON FIGHTING...pretty cool...GREAT HOCKEY GAME!

Probably the best "hockey" video game EVER! I'll keep it short...there is, for the first time ever in a hockey video game, FIRST PERSON FIGHTING...also, this game is easy to pick up and there's a short tutorial to get you started...there's a neat FIRST PERSON FIGHTING thing...the motion capture is smooth...also, there is FIRST PERSON FIGHTING...there is a new "playing the boards" feature which is suprisingly cool, but not as cool as the FIRST PERSON FIGHTING feature and last, but not least in case i forgot to mention there is FIRST PERSON FIGHTING, it's okay. I LOVE THIS HOCKEY GAME...YOU WILL, TOO.Read full review...

Still Good.

Making an arcade hockey game as superb as NHL 09 created one big problem for EA Sports: sky-high expectations. Last year's game was so good that it created an almost impossible act to follow. Good luck trying to top revolutionary improvements made to the on-ice action, controls, and modes of play. Still, NHL 10 sure tries. This is undoubtedly a better game than its predecessor, thanks to a handful of gameplay tweaks, first-person fighting, and a new Be the GM option, but in the grand scheme of things, this is more of a refinement than a full-blown sequel. Anybody who can name the Original Six without checking Google should still buy this outstanding hockey simulation, although owners of NHL 09 might not feel the need to put it at the very top of the shopping list.Read full review...

Love the NHL? You'll love this game!

Great Game, Fun to play, improved Be a Pro and Be a GM modes. Gm tracker a useful tool. It can give some silly advice sometimes, but usually it helps guide your team to success. Also, You can be a goalie in Be a Pro which I don't remember from previous versions. Very accurate ratings, becomes difficult to make trade compared with previous versions. They go by players trade value, a combination of potential, rating, salary and age.Read full review...

NHL 10 is great

I recently purchased NHL 10 from this seller and it is GREAT! I am addicted to the game which is very challenging and very entertaining. I have had no problems with the game operating at all, but the only thing I can't figure out how to do is change the original information from the seller's info to my info. The game seems to have locked in his player information so if I try creating a player it will only let me use his name and features. I would like to know if there was a way to reset the game to be able to have my own info in there and not his. As far as operation of the game goes though, as I stated above, no issues whatsoever. It is everything I was promised.Read full review...

AWESOME PRODUCT GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY!!!!

2K Sports brings the fun back to hockey video games with an intuitive control scheme and hard-hitting action in NHL 2K10. True hockey fans will respect the attention to detail, while the pick-up-and-shoot controls allow anyone to play. Improved controls deliver better puck handling, new defensive moves like stick lifts, plus stumble shots so you can always get the puck on net. Improved A.I., meanwhile, makes gameplay more authentic in the offensive and defensive zones. More accurate player looks and styles, brighter arenas and realistic pre-game introductions. And with 2K Sports' online gameplay, gamers can play in leagues and tournaments with players across the globe.Read full review...

Not only a great hockey game, doubles as music CD

The graphics are quite nice on this game, very detailed, rather realistic. Husband enjoys it thoroughly! The music is a great mix of new and classic alternative and rock songs, that plays indefinitely while the game waits for you to make a move. The narrators blather on constantly, but they are extremely realistic -so much so, that I forget it's a game -it feels like the real deal.Read full review...
