Excellent machine - but beware, you need to make a minimum amount of 3 mugs

The machine arrived promptly, excellent seller, and the machime was clearly well made and a good product, which was a relief as we had just had to return a different percolator - cordless - as it was so badly manufactured as to be dangerous.

Onto the coffee it makes - first impressions were frankly terrible. I tried 3 times to make 1, then 2 cups of coffee, and consistently it generated terrible, weak brews. The trick, as I discovered, it to fill the water up to the internal '6' marker at minimum, which makes 6 tiny cups, 3 good-sized mugs, and to use 6 1/2 heaped tablespoons of coffee. Previously I used an aeropress with 2 heaped tablespoons per mug, so the amount of coffee is consistent. And the results are now excellent, but you need to want 3 good cups of coffee at once. Which for me is great - one each for my wife and me, and one extra for me to kickstart the day. Great coffee, easy to clean, excellent machine. But if you just want to make the one cup at a time, this is not for you.Read full review

Decent percolator with room for improvement

A decent percolator let down by the length of the cable which seems excessively short making it difficult to stand away from a plug socket. It recommends not to use fine ground coffee, if you do it just seeps through the holes in the canister with the water as it drains, this could be a feature as well as the cable to improve otherwise a decent percolator.Read full review

The New Old . . . Hot Coffee all day long

I finally found a decent replacement for my old machine. When my old coffee machine broke all I required was a machine that brewed coffee and kept it hot for as long as i wanted. Simple you might think . . but NO. The European community deemed it not safe to have a coffee machine with a hot plate left on ! If you purchase a 10, 11, 12 ...16cup etc machine you are expected to drink the whole pot within about 40 minutes as the hot plate cuts out within this time !!! This was the main reason I initially looked at this machine becaue it keeps the coffee warm or should I say HOT, really hot !. 1 week into using it and I am happy with my decision. It does need a bit more coffee in the brewing process as it's not quite as strong and it would benefit from having a cordless option but its close enough. Gets most things right.

Brews a decent cup of coffee - I use Taylors Hot Lava Java (no. 6) and not many grains get through to the cup. Worth experimenting to get the required strength. I percolate twice, once in the evening, and again in the morning, using 3 slightly rounded dessert spoons of coffee and 3 to 4 mugs of water.
Would have got 5 stars if the percolator had been mounted on a mains supply pedestal (like an electric kettle) or had a longer mains lead. Sometimes difficult to pour unless unplugged (but very stiff plug and socket in the jug) or is fairly close to the mains wall socket.Read full review

Good coffee maker for strong ground coffee

I find i fill the coffee pot to the 8 cup line and have aprox 4_5 mugs per day. There is a bit of experimenting with water and ground coffee for the right cup. I wouldnt recommend using a low strength coffee. I enjoy a strong cup. I brew the pot put on a french cd smoke a cigarette and enjoy my day off work study but limit the day to 4_5 mugs :) ive tried other pod machines and the warmth is a similar drinking temp when percolated but without all the excess plastic waste and expense. I was looking for a more vintage style but electric far excels stove top perculators which leak or get clogged up. Nothing wrong with this item :)Read full review
