Nest Thermostat E +Heat Link

I bought this as my new home had an old fashioned dial type thermostat in the hallway. I had used the 2nd generation Nest thermostats before and liked the ease of control. The Nest E is a cheaper version of the original and although the room thermostat does not look as nice, it seems to have all the functionality. Good product, poorly documented.

Installation instructions abysmally bad. Almost no support online for this product, and when you do manage to find information it's almost impossible to figure out what support applies to this product, the various EU products and the US product which all go by the same name, and include components with the same name ('Heatlink') but are in reality vaslty different from product to product and region to region.

After installation is sorted (which provided good documentation wouldn't be overly difficult), the thing is great.Read full review

Brilliant, easy to install yourself

It totally transformed the heating of my house. A very well made product and being able to put the thermostat anywhere in the house as long as is near a socket is brilliant. My original stat was is the hall but was influenced massively by the kitchen which is cold so it struggled to keep a constant temperature and kept clicking on and off but now putting it in the lounge it works great. Very easy to install yourself whatever thermostat you have and functions are superb. Highly recommend.Read full review

I love the Google Nest

I have now purchased 10 Google Nest to control my underfloor heating system in my house. I love this as they are easy to use and been straight forward to install. I can manage them all from my phone, changing schedules when necessary and turning off rooms I’m not using. They look great and the rest of the family like them too. Made a big difference to the heating bill and stopped the temperature yo-yo up and down like the old thermostats did. Read full review

Great but be aware!

Got this for under a hundred pounds which was fabulous. Been thinking about getting one for a while but as were only need limited functionality I went for the “E”.

The app instructions are very thorough except for 2 areas where I feel foul due to slightly opaque instruction steps, shared for you here so you don’t fall in the same traps!

1) when plugging the white thermostat into a wall socket for the first time, don’t panic if nothing happens for an hour! The instructions show it glowing instantly with a “house” symbol but mine was dead! Turned out it has an internal battery than needs charging so leave it until it lights up.
2) be aware the terminal blocks it comes with (2 pairs) are not 4 individual terminal blocks but a pair of connectors (like chock blocks)! I had 4 wires to connect, the Nest needed 2, so I merely popped the remaining 2 in a single terminal blocks. POP went the fuse board, time and again! Turns out you can only use 1 write in each pair of blocks, thus terminating them individually.

With all that it if the way it took maybe half an hour to get it going. I’m 4 days in and it’s already learned how slow my house is to warm up. Lovely.Read full review

easy to install, neat product

If you buy this for the UK, don't look up the comparability etc online. Just follow the app. The information is all mixed in with the American one. Following the app I did it in 30 mins. If you contact the official installer, cost about £70. Either way it's very good value. Does not seem to work with Alexa though.Read full review

Usual Nest advantages for heating only.

This replaces an earlier nest thermostat which failed after some years. This E one is cheaper and ideal for my central heating which does not have any water heating requirement. So really easy to install and set up your schedule. So far pleased with the performance.Read full review

Cheaper Nest thermostat

Whilst not as good as the Nest 3, this thermostat was easy to install and use and I like the style. It's a shame that it's battery dependant but I guess that how they keep the price down.
