Classic Neumann sound that won't break the bank.

Just got it. I'm most familiar with the Neumann M147 and U87 but I found a great deal on this so I went for it. Initial impressions are all very favorable. It has a little weight to it. Very well made like all Neumann mics. Took a minute to figure out how to switch patterns and pad settings but once you get the hang of it it's easy enough. I've only used it on vocals and I have to say it sounds great. Definitely has that classy Neumann sound. I do mostly hard rock and punk bands so I rarely get past the good old SM7 for vocals but I wanted a good LDC available for the better singers. Right off the bat I was sold on this. Warm but not overly so-sat right in the mix perfectly. I know this will work as well or even better than the SM7 which is solid if unspectacular.

I was close to buying another M147 since I sold my last one a few years back but after trying this 107 I'll stay with this. The multi patterns makes it way more versatile than the M147 and I don't think ithe 147 will sound one bit better than this. Excited to use this for a room mic or a mono overhead. I'll try it FOK also. Hell I'll try it on guitar cabs too. I think it will work for a myriad of things. I can see this being a favorite vocal mic for a lot of people. I ran this thru my Empirical Labs EL9 and wow it's a great combination. I almost sound like I know what I'm doing. Definitely recommended!
