Neverwhere - The Complete Series (DVD, 2007)

Old classic

You will probably only buy this "Neverwhere" DVD if you remember the original series on TV or if someone who watched it then recommends it to you. I have happy memories of watching it with my teenage son and although the production was rather creaky in places (TV did not handle science fiction/fantasy well at that time and the series suffered from lack of enough money to do the job it deserved), but with Neil Gaiman and Lenny Henry at the helm, it has many redeeming qualities. The characters are great fun, named after different areas of London, there is an actual Angel in Islington, and the tribes of homeless people who live invisibly in London below are are a raggle-taggle bunch of fantastic characters. Despite its shortcomings, it's still very entertaining and most of the actors are excellent.Read full review
