Classic Mario gameplay met with a few fun implementations to create a refreshing feel for this classic Super Mario Bros. title.
This game is definitely a classic in the Super Mario series. All though, in my opinion, not the first completely well polished 2D platformer of the series (a title I would respectfully award to New Super Mario Bros. Wii) it is a close second to the currently final phase of polished 2D Mario platformers. This game certainly outlined what a modern 2D Mario Bros. game should look and feel like when playing it. Definitely a plus that this game is played on a portable console for arguably peak comfort (even though it would be amazing to play this title on a home console like the switch). This game introduces fun powers and a fun system for storing extra power ups on the touch screen. This game has a "1-up", so to speak, on modern editions of the in my opinion because of its quite balanced level of difficulty which can not only be a weak point in newer editions of the game but platformers in general. Overall this game is a super enjoyable (and in most cases nostalgic) experience that will give you a quite satisfying feel of what it means to experience the roots of modern Mario platformers and as a bonus this comes with 18 single player minigames and 26 multiplayer ones as well. It lacks co-op which is definitely my biggest gripe with this title but instead is substituted by a versus mode that can be quite entertaining but never live up to true co-operative Mario playthroughs.Read full review

The game works.
Took a while for the game to actually work, but it works just not on my DS Lite. It does however work on my 3DS after a few time of taking it out of the 3DS and putting it back in. Other than than that the game is fine, sounds good and plays good as well. Read full review

New Super Mario Bros. DS is an Under Appreciated Gem
This game has been unfortunately lumped in with the later NSMB titles, their unoriginality and all, but the original still holds up as one of the greatest 2D Mario games ever made.
It integrated many of the movement options from the 3D games and stuffed the main campaign with so much more to go for. This game is also one of the best multiplayer Mario experiences due to its large selection of mini games and simple fun Versus mode.Read full review

Memories, dude!
I played this game all the time as a kid until many of my games were stolen from me. I ordered it to continue completing my collection since I’ve had my 3ds for quite a few years now, and I don’t know why I nearly forgot about how good this game was. My dad often bought me a Mario game whenever they first came out in the past and I’ve been a fan ever since. The gameplay is exactly how I remembered it, power ups and all. Overall worth the buy.Read full review

Great game!
I own all of the Mario games on the Wii and I've really enjoyed playing as a kid. It's nostalgic. Now I can relive it through a DS gameplay. For me, the upside is going through all the levels and getting the gold stars even if I have to replay it several times. I get frustrated when I play these kinds of games but what's fun without some stress, right? The downside, not getting a perfect score at the end for the jump. 800 isn't good enough!! How do I get Mario to jump higher?? Read full review

REALLY GOOD!
One of my favorites. It's challenging but not overly hard. For instance jak and daxter and jak 2 and 3 were ridiculously hard. Ya they were fun but when you got stuck on that one level for about 3 hours and you are just hyperventilating over the amount of rage that's pumping through your veins due to your brain melting over trying to figure out how to finish the stupid level before you throw your PS3 out the window of a 30 story building just to get some sort of satisfaction, they got pretty annoying. But this is a game that you can sit down and play for 25-30 min and get through a good section of the game. Ya Nintendo throws 1 or 2 hard levels that you got to work through but it is the right amount of difficulty for the right amount of game play. This game is most definitely worth it and and a great play for ones who like a good chill out game for after work or studying. Gives your mind a good break. :)Read full review

Perfect price and product
This was the perfect purchase for a brand new video game that hasn't been opened. It was an excellent addition to the gaming collection.
Mario is back!
This is one of the best Mario games I've played in a while. I would say it's a mix of every Mario that ever came before it but it's actually a remake of the first Super Mario Bros. The graphics are very good and the gameplay holds up very well. It can be enjoyed by kids but by adults as well. Collecting all the secret coins is a real challenge.Read full review

Great DS game for beginners
Just bought a used DS and don't know what games to play? Start with "New Super Mario Bros." which is hands down one of the best titles in the series. The game makes great use of both DS screens, is colorful/immersive, and provides hours of entertainment on the go or when you're bored. Among this game are some other DS classics I recommend looking into:
- Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: In my opinion one of the best Pokemon games ever released. Great for people who like RPGs and adventures.
- Mario and Luigi - Partners in Time: This game follows the story of Mario and Luigi who go back in time to... Well, i'll let you find out for yourself. Great story line and suited for action and logic seekers.
- Mario Kart DS: A personal favorite of mine, you can take to the track and make use of both DS screens to compete with other Mario characters on the track! Great for action and driving lovers.
These are only a few of the great games for the DS, which I recommend beginning with to get your feet off the ground.
Hope this helps!Read full review

Very fun game
This game is very close to Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System and is one of my favorites from that system, it has more levels and more mini games as well. The graphics and sound are both really good and the game itself is a lot of fun to play for any age group.Read full review
