Easy to use with great new features

I have had 2 previous Nikon cameras, but, this is the first full frame camera I have bought. I spent a lot of time studying the specification and features which has paid off. The camera is the easiest to use I have had with all the key functions available with a button press. The image quality on the display is high resolution and fantastic for reviewing your photos. The speed of the auto focus is also amazing and combining that with the 3D tracking makes fast action shots easy. Overall this is easily the best Nikon camera I have owned so far.
There is only one downside, I must mention. I use Lightroom for editing my photos and normally use the Lightroom tethering functionally. Unfortunately this camera is NOT supported if you are using MAC OSX 10.11 or later. An annoyance but not a show stopper as other tether software is freely available.

Easy to use and very customizable on the other hand

Camera provides superb image quality.
Do not use Lightroom to convert RAW/NEF files from D810. If you want maximum quality from RAW files use Nikon Capture NX (also DxO PhotoLab should provides great results).
4 profiles/banks of the camera settings allows you to quickly change to predefined settings - I use it f.e. when I shoot with different focal lenght lenses - great for photojournalists or wedding photographers.
Auto ISO - great feature with combination of aperture priority.
I often shoot at ISO 6400 in low light interiors - very good quality, very usable quality
Mechanically high quality body with great ergonomics.

Excellant Digital Camera

Having used Nikon D70s, then Nikon D300s for over 10 years, I decide to upgrade. I was toying between D820 and D810. The extra you pay for D820 was not worth it. D810 is identical except for few tweaks.
My D300s, took excellent pictures-too. I did compare and found D810 is better, produces much sharper and better quality images D810 some times struggle to focus, and meter reading and exposure are not always perfect.
Once I understand all the features and settings I should be very happy

No regrets whatsoever.

A great camera - once you've mastered the controls and settings. Fantastic picture quality with amazing depth of colour. Low light performance is also superb, even at high ISO levels. It may not be cheap, but it's well worth the money.Read full review...

Excellent value for an FX Nikon but it is no lightweight.

It is a great camera if this is your first excursion into FX Nikons. But choose a good one from a careful owner and it is worth every penny even though you will pay more. It is not as good as the 850 but then it is older. It does not have a touch screen if you like that sort of thing and the pixel count is less if that matters to you. My purchase has been brilliant.Read full review...

Almost perfect camera.

It's hard to find bugs on this camera. Great image quality, fast response, excellent control. I moved from the D610 and it's really great progress. The big difference is in focus accuracy. I am very happy and I look forward to experiencing the D810.Read full review...

Top class

Definitely not for the beginners. Though pictures of this camera are top quality and probably best you can get of DSLR, they depend in many ways on settings. And comparing settings in Nikon and Canon, Canon's seems to be child's play. Otherwise D810 is very quiet camera for everyone who does not need to be extra fast, but requires best quality photos.Read full review...

IQ doesn't get much better than this.

Probably the last dlsr I shall ever buy. Fantastic camera at a fair price. Beautiful images and everything in the right place for me. The AF works very well and tracks exactly what you want it to. >Purchased with the 300mm zoom lens, a little heavy but a great combo for every day use.
Replaces my D7200 which is an incredibly fine dx camera which creates near perfect images but imo the d810 fx takes it to the next level.Read full review...

Nikon D810 - fantastic camera in 'skilled 'hands, great camera in novice hands.

It is not easy to use in that a beginner / novice photographer would struggle to use the camera to anywhere near it's potential straight away. However, leave it on fully 'automatic' and yes it could be used straight way.

It is an excellent professional level camera and produces stunning images, and in skilled hands is 'easy' to use.
