Awesome Camera! Can't Ask For Anything Better For The Great Price!

I absolutely love this camera! My friend had one and I was amazed at how the pictures and video came out. For the price, It was a steal!

Things I like:

1. Great 12MP Pictures
2. Zoom & Focus is stunning
3. Very Fast and easy to use

Things I dislike:

1. Touch screen is alittle sensitive
2. Should have more options in the menu

This Product is very good and for the price I could not refuse. I would tell a friend about this. Very pleased.

Nikon s2700 is not the best buy.

I bought this camera on ebay I was expecting the screen to be better quality, but it isn't very good.
But the camera takes good pictures especially when you view them on a smartphone.
A next disappointment I have, is that the video comes in avi format not good for phone.
You have to have a video converter
to convert the video to mp4 from avi so that you can play the video on your phone. S2700 Nikon is not the best choice.
Otherwise camera was worth what I paid for, because I bought it used.

Super great condition, exactly as described but better!

Am travelling this summer and wanted a cheap, secondhand digital cam to try out during the trips -- this turned out to be a great model with easy to use features, plenty of settings to give different edits and feels to the picture, functional touchscreen with attached pen, and the flash adds even more life to what you capture. Can't wait to use this! Read full review...

Could have been better

The touch screen is a great feature! There are also many other features to get you the best photo possible like smile timer, face recognition, and different scenes. However, there is no flash when recording a video. The video quality seems good but you must record in good lighting. Nice slim camera and easy to use. Will recommend for anyone who wants good pictures no matter where you are.Read full review...

The S4000 is nicely dressed for its price. The ultracompact metal

The good: Stylish ultracompact design; responsive 3-inch touch-screen display.

The bad: Inconsistent autofocus; poor low-light photos, performance.

The bottom line: Nikon's budget-friendly Coolpix S4000 offers up a large, responsive touch screen, but its performance will test your patience.

Normally when there's a performance complaint about a touch-screen camera, it's about the responsiveness of the display. That's not true for the Nikon Coolpix S4000. Its touch controls respond well to both fingertips and the included stylus. Nikon makes the screen useful, too, not just relegating it to functions that would be better suited for physical buttons. The performance problems are related to the autofocus system, which is inconsistent at best, and general shooting speeds. There is little discernible distortion when the lens is extended. Center sharpness is good, but there was visible softness in the top right corner of the lens on my review camera. This is only noticeable when photos are viewed at 100 percent, though. Purple/blue fringing on high-contrast subjects is typical of this class of camera, but the S4000 displays an above-average amount of it. It's especially visible on off-center subjects and background objects.

At sensitivities at and below ISO 200, the camera produces bright, vibrant, and reasonably accurate colors, though reds seem to blow out. Clipped highlights are a problem for this camera (as well as many point-and-shoots), however exposure is generally OK, and white balance is fairly accurate, too.

Movie quality is on par with a pocket video camera; it's good but jittery when the shooter or subject is moving. Keep the camera still and you'll get decent clips for Web sharing. You don't get use of the optical zoom while recording; only digital zoom is available.

The Nikon Coolpix S4000 is not an easy recommendation. If your endgame is great photos regardless of lighting conditions, it's definitely a pass. Its inconsistent autofocus and somewhat slow shooting performance can make it frustrating to use, too. On the other hand, the touch-screen interface is responsive, and the camera is capable of taking a decent snapshot in bright lighting. The wide-angle lens and Smart Portrait system make it an adequate choice for portraits if they're for Web use or small prints with little or no cropping. The S4000 is otherwise too much of a compromise for the money.

Awesome Camera!

The camera that i had before this purchase finally broke after having it for almost 4 years. It too was a Nikon. I bought another Nikon camera because of the wonderful experience that I had with my old camera (the great picture quality and sturdiness of the camera). I knew that I wanted another Nikon and when i saw this one with the touch screen I fell in love.

What I like most about this camera is the touch screen and all the different settings for picture taking, as well as the stylus, strap, and cds coming with the camera. A few days ago I got to use the fireworks setting and it worked wonders, I was and still am in awe of it's capabilities. The touch screen makes it so much more easy as well to be able to take pictures by touching the screen or the actual photo button. Also the panoramic picture setting with the software is amazing I have never seen a digital camera take pictures for panorama like this before. There are so many options that are great. I love this camera!

There is nothing about this camera that I dislike.

I would most definitely purchase this camera again. It is a wonderful camera that has so many awesome features that will just keep you in awe. Takes wonderful pictures and has a lot to offer. I find myself taking all kinds of pictures that I couldn't before because of other cameras graininess when zooming in but with this Nikon camera the pictures are crystal clear.

Nikon Coolpix S4000 is the best!

I recently purchased a refurbished Nikon Coolpix 4000 digital camera. at first I was hesitant about buying it because of the touch screen. I wondered how bad it would really be. Now that I have it and have used it for a while I find that the touch screen is just as easy to use as a regular non-touch screen camera. Sometimes I even find that it is easier to use! One of my absolute favorite features of this camera, besides the macro setting, is that you can take a picture by simply taping the screen! This makes taking pictures of yourself a lot easier.

The other thing that I worried about was how easy it would be to figure out how to work the camera and navigate between the different types of picture taking (a.k.a. macro setting, snow setting, fireworks setting, etc...). After playing around with the camera for a little bit I figured this out and it is definitely a lot easier than it first looks. I have yet to read the rest of the owner's manuel, but the nice thing is that I can take pictures even before reading the whole manuel. This is exactly the type of camera I was looking for!

Refurbished Nikon Coolpix S4000 is a winner!

I've used a Nikon Coolpix for 10+ years and it finally stopped working, so I found this refurbished S4000 and gave it a try. It arrived in a Nikon box, with all the necessary attachments and instructions, including a battery recharger. (Hooray, no more expensive lithium batteries to buy!) At 12 megapixels and 4x zoom, it provides clear and sharp photos, well beyond my everyday requirements. The touchscreen is sensitive and convenient and the camera is remarkably user-friendly. Even if you don't read the instruction manual right away, you can get the hang of things quickly. I like the framed autofocus feature, which allows you to choose a face--very good for close ups, too. Best of all, this camera is so small and lightweight, I can easily slip it in a pocket or handbag and take it everywhere. (It's lighter in weight than my cellphone.) I did buy a larger memory card (8G) for it, which holds lots of photos. Without a card, the internal memory can hold about a dozen on it's own. I've never tried a refurbished product before and now I am sold, especially since the price was only $60 and comparable cameras are 3 times that price. I didn't bother with the Nikon download software, and use the simple Picassa3 program instead. Overall, for ease of use, sharpness of photos, touch screen, size, weight and power, this little camera is a winner.Read full review...

Like the camera

Love the 3" touch screen. Easy to use. Like the rechargeable battery, and can take many pictures between charges. Camera takes very good pictures. Would like to have had a little more zoom capability --- maybe 6x. Although camera must be held steady to make sure the picture is not a little bleary. For the price you cannot go wrong. In fact we have two of them now.Read full review...
