Best Camera I Ever Bought!

I previously bought a red camera like this for myself on e-bay buying new paying $327.00 for it. I was so impressed with it, I bought a second one for my husband which was reconditioned for about $100. The camera is fantastic. We both love them. Pictures are absolutely great. Very easy to use. Great size - can fit in your pocket so I carry it with me all the time, mostly in my purse. My husband is a hunter so likes to take pictures of deer, bear, turkey, etc in the field and with the zoom and everything available on this camera they turn out fantastic. I consider his camera a great value for the money and wish I hadn't been afraid to buy a refurbished or whatever they call it, for myself, Could have bought 2 for $200 instead of 2 for $400. It is well worth the higher price but why buy new if you don't have too!!!!Read full review...

An excellent update fromS8100

If you want a good easy to use point and shoot camera you can't miss with this Nikon. The best features are in the picture adjustment menu where color temperature and exposure can be adjusted. The camera is superb in low light conditions. Images are outstanding. The success of this camera is demonstrated by the limited number available for sale. You buy the camera and you keep it!Read full review...

Great pocket camera!

I have had this camera for YEARS! It remained in my purse for any "wish I had a camera moments" I had. I take really close pics of flowers and sunset shots ALL the time so the camera needed to have excellence in both macro and zoom. It did fabulously. It has basic, easy to get to features so that you don't have to stumble over menu settings to get that shot quick.
It remained faithful until I sat on it with the lens fully extended and it would never retract to close the same again. SOOO I bought another one!
Use it, just don't sit on it! and all will be great!

A nice used S8200 can be had for under $100, buy one and get a great value.

The Nikon S8200 is an excellent camera. With both lens and sensor picture stabilization, this camera takes nice sharp pictures even if the camera isn't held perfectly still. Accurate color rendition is excellent and the auto scene selection works very well in most picture taking situations.
I bought one S8200 for my wife and was so impressed with the image quality that I bought another for myself. Carrying my comparatively speaking bulky Pentax KX SLR isn't always practical and the S8200 makes a great alternative.

I highly recommend the Nikon S8200.

Great camera for anyone! Even the newbie photog's like me!

I may be writing this a little early because I havent had a chance to develop any of the photos I took yet but WOW! I LOVE this camera! It just 'feels' like a quality product. Im just getting into photography so I wanted something that wasnt super expensive but had some advanced settings. Im very happy with this so far. I havent had a chance to mess around with all the settings except for the very basics. I love that this takes great low light pics.
I did get an AMAZING deal on this camera through ebay but even if I had to pay full price it still would of been worth it.
My favorite part is the LCD screen. Its so bright and makes all the pics look professional. This is also why Im hesitant to review the picture quality just yet since the pics could very well look awesome on the LCD screen but suck once they are printed although I doubt it. I took some pictures at a lake at sunset and WOW! It looks like a professional took them!
Ive heard some complaints about the loud sound the zoom makes during video recording but I havent used the zoom during a video yet so I cant comment. The only minor irritation is that it takes a few seconds too long to turn on but once it is on the isnt any lag between pictures! Also it doesnt autofocus small objects/close ups very well so be sure to hit the 'macro' button(looks like a flower) if any of your close ups are coming out blurry.
All in all I would recommend this camera to anyone!

Amazingly fast shutter-release. You will get "the shot"!

After having several point-and-shoot cameras in various formats (compact, average & large) at medium and high price points, we were still looking for one which could focus quickly and take a picture almost instantly after pressing the shutter.

Even when we 'pre-focused' with our other cameras, the delay between pressing the shutter-release and the shutter actually releasing was too long and lead to us missing "the shot" very often with our young daughter and her friends.

This camera is awesome in that regard! It is FAST FAST FAST. If you pre-focus (half press the shutter-button), then press it the rest of the way whe "the shot" comes it instantly takes the picture. I don't think we've missed a shot since we got this camera.

It's still very fast even when we haven't pre-focused, which is really great too!

Look for refurbs -- I got it for under $100 just before Christmas 2012.

Great value for a compact camera that is loaded with features

I needed a compact camera that was loaded with a number of the features that a larger camera had. The 8200 was the one that had the features that I was looking for. The picture and video quality is very good for a camera this compact. The only two negatives I have about the camera is the location of the pop-up flash (Right under where you normally grip the camera) and Nikon's decision to use rigid covers (rather than molded rubber) to cover the input/output terminals.Read full review...

Art photography at its lowest key and best!!

This maybe the most under estimated camera in the world! I wore out my last one and lo & behold I bought a new one. The selective coloring and night landscape mode make this a great photographic art camera. The fast booting and super sharp color and focus make this camera one of the best Nikon has ever made. Be it snapshots - be it high end art. It is small - it is black - it is understated and I love this model!! It would be hard to find a model by Nikon or ant other manufacturer that is this small with the robust features that this model offers! Compared to the Nikon CoolPix S9300 hands down this is the better model.Read full review...
