This a great small camera which packs a lot of functions. It has a long zoom for its size and takes sharp pictures. Excellent pocket camera; more versatile than my iPhone. I use telephoto quite a bit for field biology. Images have good clarity, color, and sharpness. I usually increase sharpness and contrast, occasionally saturation. I like JPEGs ready to go with minimal post prodding. Spot focus is very useful to my work. Need a digital cam with a great zoom and 16mp.
I have had the predecessors (s6500 and s6800) to this camera and almost couldn’t do without them. They finally died but I liked the traits and qualities to stick with the series. The 9700 has a great 30x zoom and for an outdoorsy type that is very handy. Good camera for the price.Read full review
