I got the latest VR 11 version

Kit lenses have always received a bad press but this Nikon one, especially the versions with VR (vibration reduction) has a better reputation than most. Attached to Nikon's 3000 or 5000 series DSLRs, it makes a lightweight walk around lens that feels good with my small lightweight Nikon D5500. Initial results look pretty sharp, at least as judged on computer screen, see the professional reviews for more details. This is a lens aimed at amateur enthusiasts, there will always be a better one for a lot more money and weighing a lot more :-) I didn't mark this as durable, it is entirely made of plastic, if you drop it, it will break, but I have never dropped a lens in 50 years of photography! I was lucky to purchase a used version 2 of this VR lens, apparently the VR has been improved a little and it focuses closer. I am very pleased with my initial tests. Now to find the companion 55-200mm VR 11 which if anything has even better reviews.Read full review...

A go to daily lens

I am always a bit dubious about buying second hand lenses, but this one is superb. The sellers description was spot on, accurate and exactly as it was described. The lens is really smooth, and has a nice feel to it. It also has the added attraction of the VR capability. I have yet to test how good this is, but as i have several Nikon lenses, I have no doubt that this will add to the quality of the photo's. It isn't a huge lens, but i have no doubt this will probably get the most use. I think this will end up as my GO TO lens, for the majority of my picture taking. Excellent for the price

Brought as a lighter lens to carry around for long days out. Whilst it doesn't reach far, it is versatile enough to capture the majority of shots I want, and does so sharply too. VR also works well and focus is very quick.Read full review...

Great little Nikon Lens

EASY TO USE
