The best flash money can buy
I've used all the Nikon flashes for many years and have found this one to be the most consistent and reliable flash Nikon have made. I've recently tried a few other cheaper brands but always return to the Nikon ones. Save yourself lots of money and frustration and get the SB5000. if you have a D500 then you can get the adapters to use it wireless which takes it in to a whole new level.Read full review

Nikon SB-5000
The Nikon SB-5000 is a full-featured flash with a radio remote slave — a first for Nikon. This lets us set up and shoot these in remote or multi-flash setups with less problems than Nikon's previous optically controlled flashes which needed somewhat of a line-of-site between them for reliable operation.
New
● Radio controlled; no more line-of-sight limitations of Nikon's previous i-TTL system.
● Cooling system allows 100 full-power shots before melting down.
Good
● Also compatible with other optically-controlled i-TTL flashes.
● 24 ~ 200mm zoom with 14mm panel.
● Built-in catchlight card.
● Infra-red AF illuminator.
Bad
● Much more expensive than any other Nikon flash.Read full review

Superb flash gun. Expensive but it is Nikon's top flashgun, Doesn't overheat. Very powerful. Flexible head, locking hot shoe. Takes 4 AA batteries. I use Eneloop cells, bar far the best. Recycles very quickly. Auto zoom flash head.Read full review
