Although the D810 came out less than three weeks after I finally bought my D800e I just can't be happier. I love cameras that present a challenge to use and the D800e is certainly that.

The 36MP image means that steadiness is paramount, but I have a host of tripods, including the incomparable Induro LFB 75 with an Arca Swiss mount. That makes it very easy to stabilise this beautiful beast !

I have paired it with a Samyang f/1.4 85mm lens, which was one of the best lenses to use with this camera in terms of crisp images with magnificent detail.

The D800e is not a camera for the faint of heart but if you are a true landscape photog or are used to medium format gear then this just may be your lucky day ;-)Read full review...

A photographic extension of my own body closer to perfect than ever before.

My expectations were very high.
My old camera a Nikon D2Xs I knew to be brilliant from experience, but I knew of the features that have come into existence since the advent of the now old D2Xs.
Despite all this and my high expectations the D800E exceeded all of them: the increase in quality, usability, controllability and technical handling.
Only one disappointment, and not a small one either: even with the battery pack, the camera does not have the facility to record voice memos. Given the usefulness of memos and the fact that even the D100 with its battery pack possessed voice memo recording ability, I remain astounded that Nikon chose to omit this feature. The camera can take High Definition broadcast quality movie with sound, but not voice memo!
OK, Nikon dropped that ball, but everything else on this camera simply excels. One does not find it difficult to feel that with this camera in their hands they are holding a world class world leading photographic instrument.Read full review...

Superb piece of kit.

over my previous D700 the best feature is the live view. This is very helpful with macro and digiscoping. In every aspect it performs pretty well faultlessly. No regrets buying this.

Nikon supremacy

A wonderful camera with the ability to take on the larger size format cameras with ease, with the low pass filter removed the images are sharp and wonderful to see just how good the detail is in the image, i had this on my D7100 and it is surprising what a great difference in detail and sharpness it makes.
Lighter body makes it easy to carry around without too much effort, I like the way that you choose the method of focusing using a small button on the focus switch, I had this on my D7100 and loved it, if you cannot afford this camera go for the D7100 the images on that are sharp, and if you don't mind FX format then it is nearly as good as this camera, and the lenses are cheaper.
All in all there are too many interesting sides of this camera to go into, suffice it to say I will not be looking to change it this will be my last camera, and I look forward to it being my best friend.Read full review...
