Best mobile ever.

If you don't need a smartphone, this is probably the best mobile ever made and the best selling phone as a result.
It is very small, very robust, but more importantly, the battery can last up to two weeks, which when compared to a day or less with a modern smartphone is simply outstanding.
Why does it last so long?
Because it's a phone and NOT a camera, organiser or a music/video player which will quickly drain the battery, so it can only send and receive texts and calls and this is where it ends.
Granted, some people need to have a smartphone as the lifestyle of today dictates this, but if all you need a phone for is calls and texts, the reliability and phenomenal battery life of the 1100 makes it the smartest choice ever.
Also, do you REALLY need a phone with a screen so big you can watch a film on it?
This is where mobile phones have gone backwards as far as I am concerned, as the 1100 is absolutely tiny, but because the screens are so big, the latest smartphones are HUGE and easily damaged when sat on in your back pocket or if they are dropped.
The 1100 is virtually bomb-proof and even in the unlikely event the screen or case is damaged, this can be replaced for less than a tenner and the removable battery will set you back a fiver, whereas the typical smartphone does not have either and to have the non-removable battery will probably be about £100 as will a new screen, which you will probably need at some point.
The purpose of this review? If you don't need it, don't be saddled with what it will cost you, go for an 1100 instead.

Disappointed

Classed as new, but no retail packaging, no user's manual, no battery charger. just the 'phone in a padded envelope and nothing else. Had difficulty in finding a charger from a previous Noki 'phone and difficulty getting it to charge.
The same day, my son bought a Noki 105 from Argos complete with charger, retail packaging and (abbreviated) user instructions
for just under £18.00.
I'm 95 and rely on my septagarian sons to advise me
Sorry for negative response, George

Item arrived very quickly, visible signs of use as expected. Battery wouldn't charge in the phone (tried 2 phones), only in separate charger. Battery

Fully working second hand phone - my elderly mother is delighted.

I'm not sure that it was better than erxpected - but only giving three stars seemed a but mean.

It's a second hand phone that has clearly been used quite a bit. But, I expected that and the main thing is that it works.

It also means that my elderly mother, who hates change, now has a working replacement for the Nokia 1100 that died on her.

Best of the old monochrome screen style phones

I don't ever write reviews, but feel like I need to express my love for this phone. I've had 4 of these over the years. I have an iPhone, but decided I was sick of having a smart phone on me all the time, so bought one once more.

It's very basic and easy to use, but also is a bit better than the older monochrome nokias like the 8210, because it is a lot faster (no waiting for inbox to load) and seems to have less issues (e.g. with texts disappearing randomly etc), in my experience. It also has a sent messages folder, unlike the older ones.
It comes with all the basics, which also includes useful things like torch, stop watch, calculator, count down timer, alarm, reminders etc. And Snake... (also another game - 'Space Impact +').

One of the reasons I also wanted to get this phone, is because it doesn't have a bright led screen like on smartphones, and so I don't feel like it's really affecting my sleep if I need to use my phone in the eve.

Would def recommend getting this if you want a basic phone that doesn't give you a headache from the screen.

Old school phone

My partner had an original Nokia 1100 but the keys had nearly all worn away. She loves the simplicity of it: phone, text, torch and long battery life. Really happy with the new one: it's in excellent condition considering the age of the phone.Read full review...

Nice,simple,reliable!

In this, the mega-technical age, where mobile phones do almost anything bar make a cup of tea (sure that will be the next step),this phone is a throwback to recent, simpler times, when all we really wanted to do with our phones is talk and text, and for work, that's all i really need, see,i work on the railways, where reliable contact is important, the 1100 with its very long battery life just fits the bill,it lacks all the whistles and bells but who cares?for my duties its the tops for me!Read full review...

very basic phone may work may not.

Seeing this phone having good reviews I have just bought this thinking it would have long battery life and good reception as compared to my Samsung Galaxy. One should not forget buying this much old phones from eBay is a luck.Read full review...

Cheap and cheerful.

Very easy to use. A good phone if you only want it to call and text. I had one of these phones previously for many years which survived being dropped down stairs and run over with the car (although I wouldn't recommend that!)
The fact that it doesn't have lots and lots of features is part of its appeal. I've had other phones that are far too complicated and one touch of a button and you're connected to the Internet. As I didn't want 'all the bells and whistles' this phone is perfect for me.
The battery lasts a long time and it's excellent value for money.

Ultra basic reliable phone with amazing battery life. Can't go wrong.

Ultra basic phone. Phone and text and that's it. Very easy to use, quick access to all 'features'. Very durable and easy to fix if anything does go wrong. If you don't need e-mail or photos all the time this is the perfect phone. Battery lasts a week and even has a torch! More than enough for me.
