Good product but has a bad smell

The product is good as described it's highly absorbent but the biggest problem is it has a very peculiar smell which is fairly unpleasant for that reason I would not recommend it to anyone who's concerned about bad smells but I am a person who has allergies and guinea pigs urine is managed very well with this absorbent so for that reason it is a usefull product.Read full review

Absorbant but smelly; not suitable for bird cages.

To be fair, the product description did not include using this as litter in bird cages [hence three stars not less]. Having given it a try the first thing I noticed when I entered my birdroom the next day was the unpleasant smell. This soon disappeared with the door left open for ten minutes or so, in freezing temperatures. Then I noticed the shed floor which was covered with the product which had been blown out of the cages by the flight of the canaries. On the plus side, it is very absorbant and clean. Back to using newspaper and sand. The rest of this order [90%] will be given away to a friend with chickens as nest box litter. Probably fine for small animals kept outdoors.Read full review

Great for hamsters!

Perfect for my two hamsters! It came before the expected date, was a great value for money and my hamsters had fun digging in it. There’s no dust and although it has a slight smell, you get used to it easily and it’s to be expected anyway as it is HORSE bedding. Perfect for my wildlife rescue

I run a wildlife rescue & this time of year get a lot of little hedgehogs for the winter. Hogs absolutely stink but this stuff is great for keeping the smell down & its safe as it’s dust free! I also use it for the sick & injured birds if they need a soft lining in their cages, again being dust free it’s perfectly safe for birds. Great for guinea pigs

Really absorbant and doesn't stick to the guinea pigs fur like shavings do. The sacks used to have a strange smell but now they are using different sacks it doesn't smell at all. Lasts us longer than buying bedding from the pet store.Read full review
