This replacement part fits the discontinued "old" environment perfectly
I pretty disappointed that I could find the exact replacement part for my heater/fan. I had read that the Broan Nutone S97017648 Heater Assembly has a suitable substitute, but I had my doubts. After searching and searching for the exact replacement part -- and not being able to find it -- I took the risk of ordering the S97017648 here in eBay, and hoping for the best. I delighted to report that the S97017648 fit PERFECTLY, and works PERFECTLY. I treat pretty much everything that I read on the internet with a healthy dose of skepticism, but in this case, the internet and the Bay seller were quite right. This part was just what I needed, and at a fair price.Read full review

Loud, but not Proud
As several buyers of this replacement heater/fan assembly (different from original design) have previously stated, it is MUCH louder and seems to produce less heat output than the original assembly. Having 3 total of these heater/venting fans in the house, I just exchanged this new unit into the guest bath unit (which is not used nearly as much) and put the removed guest unit in the master bath which had originally failed.Read full review

Easy direct replacement
This heater is an easy to install direct replacement. Just slide the tab into the existing housing, put in the one screw and plug it in. Couldn't be much easier without someone doing it for you. This model has the resetting thermocouple, so you don't have to worry about overheating anymore. It took less than 10 minutes for me to take out the old one and install this heater in the kid's bathroom.Read full review

A model replacement for our original heater, but very noisy.
This is a replacement part for our original heater. Before we had to replace the heater about every 2 years in our bathroom. This is a different replacement type that seems to be longer since it has been at least two years since replacing the last one. Only complaint is it is very noisy, alot louder than the original type. If you don't want a noisy heater i would suggest something else.Read full review

There may be better choices out there.
This product did replace the broken heater element and motor in our overhead bathroom fan. It appeared to come in a box that had been opened before. The unit was not a perfect fit, but I was able to make it fit. The problem may not have been with this unit but with the original unit the device goes into. Lastly, it's kind of noisy.
On the other hand, it was $10 cheaper than any other of the same part I could find. And it does deliver heat.Read full review

Bent and warm
The fan/heater box came crushed and I was going to send it back! After opening and inspecting the unit I was able to bend the edges and frame ends back straight. Hoping that it would fit. Finally got it in the slot. From there installation went well. Once hooked up, tested the unit. The heater worked ok, not as hot as the original. Hopefully lasts longer than the original. Heat not hot
Replaced this part which burned out. This one is ame model number but configured differently than the one we had to replace. However, it did fit into the exiting fixture. The heat is just not as high as the previous heater unit (maybe that;s why they burned out so much!)Read full review

Works well
Not the same as original, had to take ground wire from old unit and mount to replacement. The heater works well.

It works.
This part had to have extra holes drilled to be more supportive, but so far it works.
