Olympus VN-2100PC Voice Recorder

The recorder is so good for such a small unit that one can easily carry in a pocket. The batteries seem to last for ages. Although marketed as a voice recorder, the VN-2100 picks up sounds from quite a distance, with or without the little microphone attachment. It is to my mind important to buy the PC version so you can upload your recordings to your computer - excellent to accompany photographs when making an Audio-Visual presentation. Or just use it as a handy audio reminder to do something or note something eg a car number plate.
Why did I buy it from eBay? Well I lost mine and wanted to replace it with exactly the same model. Since purchase, the old one has turned up, so now I have a spare! ACJ April 2011Read full review...

Brilliant note-taker when you need to capture facts, details, events, thoughts or dreams when pen and paper are not to hand. Good little thing to record your thoughts and ideas.

For my use its sadly not really good. But for recording ideas , thoughts , or just to remind yourself of things , i would recommend it. It is very small and handy. Fits perfect in a pocket.

Neat little unit

Bought this for note taking during property inspections. Very small, very light, though feels a little too plasticky. Functionality is good, microphone sensitivity good (and adjustable). File handling and indexing simple and functional. Voice activation is excellent, doesn't miss a beat. Clock is not the most accurate but ok for marking the recording time. Wouldn't rely on it over a cheap quartz watch though. Recording times good given the limited memory. Will probably look out for a PC variant which allows usb connection to PC and dumping of recorded files.
Overall an impressive bit of kit, especially as I only paid £10 for a factory refurb including free plug in noise cancelling microphone which is considerably better than the built in mic.Read full review...

Great value VR to help organise your life!

Easy to navigate and operate VR with more than enough memory for 100's of memos, easily categorised into choice of 4 folders. More than adeqaute volume on playback and choice of headphones plus a directional external mike included. Playback quality is perfectly good as is record quality, plus you can download memos onto the PC. The unit is fairly light and seemed slightly plasticky but in actual fact its well made and as long as you are fairly carefull should last. Overall I recommend this product to anyone who wants an entry level VR without breaking the bank. To be honest, ist probably the best make / model in its price range.Read full review...

Olympus Voice Recorder

Very intuitive to use so easy to pick up and start using. Tactile feel is good and it's one of those 'things' you get every now and again which you just like holding and finding a reason to use. Battery life is very good and the noise cancelling microphone works well both to reduce ambient noise and to make portable use very easy. If you need to record data for later referral then I doubt you will find a more cost effective solution.Read full review...
