Great CD player for the money!
This CD player is a fantastic value for the money. I hear music with much more clarity than with any CD player I've owned before, and I've owned quite a few! It is a basic CD player with no frills, just the ability to hear music like it was supposed to be heard. It is very well built and is quite heavy. My only complaint is it is pretty easy for footsteps to make it skip. I live in a condo and the floors are concrete, so I was surprised to find that heavy walking will make it skip. This is my only complaint and it doesn't really bother me since I live alone, so it rarely skips. I would definitely buy it again if I had it to do over. What used to cost $2000
Four stars because for a couple thousand dollars you can get a better player. I stuck to vinyl because cheap CD players sounded horrible, then I had a Merdian 206 which sounded good but at the time cost almost $2000. This sounds as good or better than that 206 did. Good full frequency response and detail. Never harsh. Solid build quality drawer is stable and responsive. Remote works well panel lights can be dimmed.Read full review

Perhaps the best entry level, high value audiophile player on the market!
Having read prior reviews for a year or so, I was intrigued. Bought one used for amazing price, brought it home - connected analog out with AudioQuest interconnects, first disc, first song, I
knew the C-7030 was designed solely for outstanding musical presentation. Onkyo hit one out of the park with this stellar work of engineering! Simply put - you cannot possibly go wrong. It works
in rotation with a Marantz CD-63mkII player. Man, what a combo of CD players! To quote James

The Onkyo CD Player has a really clean detailed sound . You can actually hear the difference form its custom DA Chips and Power Transformer. This was a great buy, highly recommended. CD player sounds great. One puzzling glitch. Two initial times powering the CD player on over two days, there was a delay before it recognized No Disc. Also Reading timed out on multiple discs without recognizing any tracks--the spinning mechanism sounded a little rough too. Third time powering CD player on everything worked. Audiophile quality at a budget price.
I recently purchased this to replace my 15 year old NAD deck which finally bit the dust. This Onkyo has a very solid build, easy to use function buttons and remote, and most importantly...it sounds terrific. My CD's sound warm, clear, and punchy. Definitely worth the price. a Big Improvement
I bought this item to replace my old Onkyo disk player (about 20 yrs.old) because the disc tray stopped sliding out of the case.
This was a common problem with this model. No problems like this with the new player. In fact, it sounds clearer and more distinct than the old one ever did. What a great unit and a lucky buy!Read full review
