A Fun Kids Game without Much Replay Value

Open Season (Xbox)

Fun for kids and adults alike, but replay value just isn't there.

Open Season is a fun game, and kids and adults will enjoy it, but once you've beaten it once you won't feel like playing it again.

Open Season offers a ton of different challenging levels. Whether you're collecting grubs, scaring hunters, racing through mine shafts, or facing a brutal boss, this game has it all.

There are a ton of enemies you get to face, and a fair share of allies. All of your allies offer something new to your bag of tricks.

The ability to upgrade certain features between levels is a great addition to this game. You can upgrade attributes such as your roar, your throw, and your sense of smell.

Pros:

- Tons of Levels
- Tons of Bad Guys
- 7 multiplayer mini-games
- Tons of bad guys to face of against
- Ability to Upgrade
- Lots of side quests
- Pretty decent animation
- Ability to use other Animals to your advantage (Throwing Skunk Bombs or using squirrels to daze hunters)

Cons:

- Replay value low
- Did they use the real actors voices for this game? (Have to beat the game to find out)
-

Final Verdict:

3/5

Rent or Buy?: Adults - Rent. This is a kids game, and can be fun and challenging for Adults, but unless you're under the age of 10, this game's replay value is simply non-existent.

P.S. Make sure you collect all the secret badges your first time through a level, it can be tedious and annoying playing through a level two or three times.

Open Season- GREAT for BEGINNERS, too EASY for gamers!

I decided to buy this game because my son is really young, and likes to do things that "daddy does," but daddy plays games inappropriate for my son. He really took to the movie "Open Season," so I thought I would give the game a try.
I've been really happy with it. It is very simple (unlike Bee Movie or Meet the Robinsons, which were fun for me, but way too difficult for my son). The actions and sounds are user/family-friendly, and it stays really true to the movie, but with some new, fun games.
The game is also self-explanatory and is it breaks it up with some instructionals that allow the player to set themselves, check the remote, and figure out what they are going to do and how they are going to do it. It is still a little bit above my two-year old, but he plays it with some success, which is a step and I believe that it will be the first of any of the games I purchased, that he will be able to excel at.
In short, the game is simple and still fun, but if you are a hard-core gamer, or are looking for a challenge, it is probably not for you. Moms and children, it is a great game to play and to play together!

Open Season is a solid, but easy, game for kids and adults.

A great game for kids. And if you're an achievement hound, it's an easy 1000 points.
The levels parallel the movie well and the controls are easy to learn.
The characters and levels are well-rendered, but movement is restricted to prevent leaving until the current task is completed.
Kids will enjoy the character comments and frequent achievement point awarding.

Open season

this game is a reminder that life is fun and full of laughter.
Now if your are one of those hard core gamers your not going to really enjoy this game. The game is silly, and a lot of fun for small children and adults who just need to laugh at the end of a stressful day.
The game offers player interactions and small simple puzzles that aren't always as easy as they seem.

In short my nephews love the game and I enjoy watching them play.

Bought for my 4 year old

Well i got this game for my daughter. She is 4 and I had reserves about buying her this game. I played through it first and as the rating might suggest, there are parts I found not appropriate for my kiddos. I elected to let her use the mini games which she does with a few other games. The mini games are a little challenging for her but over all really fun to sit down with my wife, who is not a gamer, and have some family fun.

I would recommend the parent play through this first before allowing a young child to play it.

For the gamer looking into this game. It is not very challenging for a avid gamer but for a casual gamer it may pose some challenge.

Besides some rear end shaking the game was kid friendly. It was funny and sparked me to rent the dvds for my kids to watch.

Ebay....the greener choice.

I bought open season for my six year old daughter to play on XBOX. I like the game because SHE likes the game, I didn't have to drive around looking for it, I was able to type in "games for kids" and this was one that popped up. The game arrived three days later, and my child was smiling!!! No time wasted, not energy wasted, the game was Guaranteed, and I could return it if I wasn't satisfied. What other means of shopping saves you so much time and energy......NoNE.Read full review...

Younger ones will love

For younger children, it's a really good game. It's repetitive and yet still exciting for them. It's very easy to learn. It does get a little harder later on in the game, but for the most part, it's fairly easy.Read full review...
