Great lens very sharp

Images are very sharp, autofocus is perfect, but could be faster. Works perfectly on my K-5. Even though it is not a lightweight "glass", it is very good balanced, so handheld is definately possible.<br>The butterfly (Vanessa cardui - don't know the English name) is taken handheld at 1/640s f/10 ISO800 with the 300mm lens on my K-5.Read full review...

My best lens to date

I enjoy although a keen amateur, photographing birds and more recently discovered the joys and rewards of taking shots of wildlife
This lens is excellent for the job clear sharp images are the results I have achieved the weight is good and balanced not too heavy as with some lens at this size.
This is a prime lens so therefore I expect it to in some ways out perform some of my other telephoto lens which it really does.

I bought this lens purely because I could not get the results I wanted with my lens which I sold to help fund this one as it is not a cheap buy or should I say "Investment" a term a very good freind of mine made and was proved right.
I cant go into the technical side of the make up of this lens but it is capable of many things true it like many performs superbly in good light but to be honest you could and I have taken some great close up shots which although not true Macro are as good as some I have taken with a so called Macro lens.
If you are thinking of making the same investment .....go for it you wont be sorry you added this to your bagRead full review...
